RFAs and Keeping Rust
I like your moves and reasoning behind the moves. Rust is very valuable to this team, he can play either wing and can shuffle up and down pretty much any line.
Personally, I would love to see a top 6 of Guentzel-Crosby-Kahun and Galchenyuk-Malkin-Rust. That top line is very intelligent and quick, and Geno's line has Rust to be defensively responsible.
I did see Simon-Bjugstad-Horny have some absurd 70% CF towards the end of the season, but they hardly cashed in. I think McCann on that line adds some more finish. I'm a big Simon defender, I know what he brings CF wise and defensively, but him on the 4th with Blueger and Tanev (ugh, rather ZAR for $2M cheaper) looks like a great 4th line.
Still need to add more to that JJ trade I would think, but I would try a future 2nd and/or 3rd to try and get rid of him. Last resort would be including the 1st rounder.
Still, one of the best realistic teams I've seen assembled on here!

Kind of realistic dream offseason
Goalie trades are so hard to do I feel like. Kind of random in how they project to turn out. I think the pens hold on to DeSmith as a back-up at least for this year. Jarry you could look to swap for like a 3rd liner and a 4th/5th round pick or something, or a prospect and the same pick

Caps fan trying to put together a Penguins team
You make some more sense than penguins fans that I've seen on here lmao.
I think you overpaid on ZAR slightly and Pettersson by about 1M. I think you're undervaluing Kessel a little too much there. That Letang trade would be a big blockbuster but I don't think Pittsburgh or Toronto has the you know whats to do that
Not bad tho! I have a friend who is a caps fan so I know a lot about them, maybe I should try a caps offseason thing on here

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ryminister_27</b></div><div>What's the value Pens fans out on Casey DeSmith or Tristan Jarry?</div></div>
DeSmith is a back-up, maybe a fringe starter. He stepped up pretty well early in the season when Murray was hurt. Not sure how much value you get out of him.
I never know what to think about Jarry. I think he's an average starter in the NHL or someone that's involved in a goalie by committee type thing. I think Jarry projects to be a notch below Cam Talbot/Petr Mrazek. Hopefully he can show that level soon, because with his age I think Pittsburgh can get something decent for him.

I'll take your word for it, I think it's a long shot type of trade that an incompetent, under pressure franchise might pull the trigger on after seeing Gudbranson's relatively successful time in Pittsburgh

Does Vesey fit?
Really hope Vesey signs with us! He could get 2-3 years with Sid & Geno, put up big numbers and be on a playoff team, and then sign a huge contract elsewhere when he's 25 or 26.

Yeah take out the 2nd rounder that STL is giving up and I could see them thinking about it tho

16-17 Penguins
Edmonton is stocked with LHD they need RHD, also I think you underpaid Schultz a ton. He made $3.9M this year hopefully can be re-signed for around $3M, 1.375 is a little unrealistic.
edit: nvm you were almost spot on with Schultzy I was way off you win haha

pens next year
Have to bring back Cullen for another year if he thinks he can give it another go. I think Fehr becomes tradable along with Cole. I think Schultz might want a little more than 2 mil, but I wouldn't pay him anything higher than 3 mil

2nd round (if they last)
I see it, but I don't think it can happen, its Evgeni Malkin. If the current 2nd line keeps playing at this level, I could see them maybe trying Geno on 1st line LW. But, I think it's more of a Hagelin-Kessel speed/chemistry thing rather than Hagelin-Bonino-Kessel chemistry thing.
If we're in 2nd round I see
14-87-72
62-71-81
34-7-17
43/19-13-16
I love Beau, but I think he either gets hurt or gets outplayed

Way too much going to Edmonton for that trade. I also don't think (or at least hope) that the penguins will re-sign Lovejoy. Agree they will bring Schultz back though.
