Time to pull the trigger
If the penguins chase hall it's in the offseason.
I don't see them trading Hållander, he can be playing for them by next year.
They need that young cheap youth to be able to sign players like Hall.

They need to get something for him before they loose him for nothing.

That’s a terrible analogy. At least you can somewhat back up the marner guentzel debate

great, then we can get Hall and not make the playoffs because he have no goalie capable of winning when it counts.

Oh I agree, but if they were guaranteed to make the playoffs and the young guys up now don’t slow down much, and new young guys (like Bjorkqvist and Hallander) came up and did similar to the young guys up now. It would be interesting. Just a huge risk.

I would think the starting price would be Schultz, Bjugstad, Guentzel, DeSmith, and a 1st while taking Dubinsky back as a cap dump.

Of course Schultz is going to get a big pay raise. Let someone else make that mistake. The penguins don't need to.
You have to know when to get out on top.
Jones is a good player, but at what cost to get him. It's not worth all they would ask. I doubt they would even seriously consider moving him.

they aren't going to resign Justin. He's gone.
I'm ok with that. Marino is better anyway.
If anything by TDL they should look at moving him. They won't need him and they can get a huge prize for him.

How does the CBJ trade actually help the penguins.
They have a legit 1RHD. and they have 2 legit 2RHD.
If you are going to bring in Jones, Letang is the guy who has to go.
That way next year you are looking at Jones and Marino in the top 2.
But none of that helps if they are giving up a lot of other stuff.

I think Jones is pretty untouchable.. borderline elite D, future norris candidate, and seems to enjoy playing for columbus (which is esp important to the jackets after this summer)

Jones starts with Guentzel then keep adding. Jones is a legit 1RHD. He's young and cheap too.

I think that might be to much he put up 80ish points last season and I think pens won’t trade him any time sooner</div></div>
26 points and +41 differential from the season before, it could be seen as decline

Trade with Ottawa and 1 for 1
Hornqvist +Gudbransson makes more sense for Ottawa. Otherwise instead of 7.25×3 it's 8.55×4, AND two roster spots vs one with Bobby. Gudbranson off the books after two seasons works better for Ottawa.

OTTAWA
I don't have a problem with the sens taking on Gudbranson if there is a deal out there, but I don't think there's a price to get Ottawa to take JJ. I wouldn't do 3 years of Ryan for 4 years of Johnson straight up.
Gud makes more sense because he can at least play in the top six (even if I don't think he's very good at all). He at least brings size and toughness, and it's not like Ottawa is swimming in RD at the moment.
JJ wouldn't work because the sens are pretty flush with young LD, and aren't likely wanting to pay a guy 3.25mil to sit in the press box for 4 years.
