Saros to Oil Country
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>If Nashville is selling, why in the world would the Preds be buying Jack Campbell's intergalactically-awful contract?!?!? Especially now that he's been put on waivers?</div></div>
So we have a tank commander to take us to 1st overall and hold down the fort until askarov is ready

Saros to NJ
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>Saros even if he's a 10 million dollar player (which isn't a guarantee with how voodoo goalies are) is still only 10 mill in surplus value. You'd be stretching me to give up 2 ELC years of holtz and then 3 RFA years+a 1st for that, let alone Vanacek and Mercer</div></div>
The goalies are voodoo argument doesn't really hold up here. Since taking over the starter's job, Saros has finished no lower than 6th in Vezina voting. He's picked up Hart votes in two of his last three seasons. He's consistently been one of the very top goalies in the NHL. He's not a Samsonov or Andersen type.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NHLfan10506</b></div><div>Vanacek and 1st would be main pieces of the return…maybe another prospect. But Mercer, Holtz, Nemec…don’t even bother with those guys.</div></div>
If Vanacek is being looked at as a main piece, and not a spare part so NJ can move some salary out, I don't think there's a deal to be had here.\

Offseason
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ecupirate07</b></div><div>lol no. no it isnt. he defense is quite poor, not a good lockerroom influence, and effort level is declining. there is a reason success isnt near him and generally better when he leaves. 0 interest from carolina</div></div>
"0 interest from carolina" & "Duchene at 6 million is still a negative value" are two vastly different points not to mention the rest of your argument is quite clearly based on a clouded personal opinion.

Ya think? 99% of the comments on CF are usually negative (I'm guilty of it too, much too often), so that's how I instinctively read it. If I got it wrong, my apologies to <a href="/users/jtrevethan22" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@jtrevethan22</a>.

LA still in on Saros
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>I definitely agree on why would Nashville move in from saros when they are trying to compete. With brunette and Trotz running the show now I definitely don’t see Nashville selling…. But goalies just don’t return that much
Vilardi, Durzi, Anderson and a 1st is an extreme overpay.
No point in having a vezina goalie if you don’t have a defence infront of him.
And still saros won’t be returning a top 6 20+ goal scoring C/RW a number 4-5 offensive/ pp specialist dman a top 4 physical shutdown dman and a 1st.
Maybe more picks and prospects but what you are asking for a return is nearly 4 1sts in value and goalie just don’t get those returns</div></div>
There just really isnt any precedent for a team trading a vezina candidate goalie in his prime and contract remaining. This is pretty uncharted territory so people are either asking for the moon or working off of flawed comparisons to previous traded goalies. Saros is a top 5 goalie over the past 3 years, just turned 28, and makes just 5 million for the next 2 seasons. There just inst a direct comparable. Top end established starters just dont get traded unless there is an issue with them (age, contract, etc)

Juuse Saros to every team
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>gmgb</b></div><div>These are wildly uneven, value-wise. As you'd expect, trying to trade with every team. EDM's package is especially weak, given they get to dump so many years of Campbell.
This is one of the ones NSH would decline. The 1st isn't until 2024, NSH has better wing prospects than Knies, Samsonov doesn't make sense for NSH unless they have a team to flip him to lined up, and Robertson's a bust.
I don't see NSH having interest in him anyway, when they already have their goalie of the future. Drop him, and bump the 2nd up to a 1st.</div></div>
I'd be fine dropping the 2nd and upping it to a first

Just throwing out more ideas
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>js64js64</b></div><div>From what I have heard they want to move him and with one better and one as good goaltender on the market I doubt they get more than a mid first</div></div>
Whoever said NSH is shopping Saros is mistaken. They might be listening to offers, but he is as close to untouchable as you can get. He is the most important player to this team, and I'd say starting offer would be a first plus a A-tier prospect, and even then it might take more to pull him out of NSH.

Marner to NSH
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Pensman69</b></div><div>Right because Nashville, a rebuilding team, absolutely wants to sell the youth for Mitch Marner</div></div>
Wouldn’t call Nashville a rebuilding team by any stretch. If they were they wouldn’t have re-signed Forsberg or traded for McDonagh. They have a lot of players that are in win-now mode (Forsberg, McDonagh, Josi, Duchene, Johansen, Saros, Barrie, etc.). They’re more retooling, Marner actually might be a good compliment to them. But realistically Toronto would likely demand a starting price of Tominsino and Carrier at minimum. Not sure the teams line up well for a deal
