Cap compliant
I believe that is an LTIR thing. Teams don't have to have 23 players on their roster, they can carry 20 if they want, but 23 is the max.

Habs of the future
Why would Edmonton, Philadelphia and especially Ottawa want anything to do with these trades? Philly gets rid of a top pairing D for a third line winger, a fourth line winger and a barely useful minor leaguer? Edmonton adds payroll while making their terrible defence even worse? Ottawa takes four bad contracts and a mediocre RFA who they could get on waivers in September so they can get a second round pick? While also giving up a solid middle six forward? These might work on NHL 19, but actual GMs would laugh at Bergevin for these proposals.

He was propped up big time by Giordano and everything going in the net for the Flames early in the year. But to answer your question, yeah I was having a few beer Friday afternoon.

Because he is one of the worst defensemen in the NHL and Calgary would likely take a 5th for him.

realistic
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>weaned_on_the_Habs</b></div><div>reasons why Kings make this deal
they have called up Sean Walker from Ontario where he was lighting it up 20GP 6G 11A 17P +6 18PIM
didn't call him up to watch ... need to move Muzzin or Alec Martinez for him to get ice time
Kings would rather keep Martinez because he's signed for 2 more years which takes him to Seattle expansion draft (Muzzin only signed for 1 more year)
As far as the return goes ... while not strictly part of the deal you could include Sherbak as part of the return in a trade with Montréal
in which the Kings get their entire 4th line for less than they would have to pay Muzzin for the rest of this year and next as well as an 8th pick in next years draft
as well as reclaiming 1M+ against the cap which they are right up against ... not a bad return for making a move that you had to in order to get Walker on the ice.
Kings are going to be active in the trade market ... likely already getting calls on Toffoli and Clifford; could also be interest in Trevor Lewis after he gets off IR</div></div>
Even if the Kings had to move Muzzin, which they don't, but if they decided to move him, they would choose to move him for a good return, not a couple of healthy scratches and a useless pick. Include Scherbak? That makes no sense at all, he's already on their team. About 30 teams in the league would make a more "realistic" offer than this for Muzzin.

Senators Projected Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>I'd switch up the top nine so its Dzingel-Duchene-Boedker, Smith Pageau-Stone and Ryan-Brown-Gaborik.
Boedker and Duchene had some chemistry in Colorado, and he's got wheels. Dzingel plays well with basically anyone on the team.
Smith-Pageau-Stone has shown some solid chemistry in the past, and keeping Stone and Duchene away from each other gives us at least one elite level player on both lines. this is also probably the line that goes out against top lines
Ryan plays better on the left wing than he does on his natural right side in my opinion. Gaborik was injured for most of the season, and he didn't get to play a lot in ottawa, but I liked what I was seeing when he did play. with 21 points in 46 games, he was producing at a rate of just shy of 20 goals and 40 points. if he could even get in that ballpark, that would be great for bottom six scorer. The big problem with this line is that it's slow, and that could be a problem.
Also I doubt Batherson makes the team/</div></div>
Yeah, I was thinking they might split Stone and Duchene, but maybe they play them together to keep them happy. Might be easier to re-sign them if they develop some chemistry and want to keep playing together.

I have to admit, I did one of these ideal lineups for every team and the Rangers was the hardest one to come up with line combinations. So many versatile forwards that could play literally anywhere in the lineup. You are probably right about the youngsters playing in the middle, but we will see in a few weeks I guess.

I kind of overlooked Appleton. It's a super deep lineup, will be interesting to see if he can crack it.

As a Blues fan that is what I see the lines being opening night. Basically the same except call up Tomas and switch Perron and Tarasenko</div></div>
Most Blues fans seem to think Tarasenko and Perron will switch. I thought the Schwartz-Schenn-Tarasenko line was the best one in the league the first half of last season so I left them together. Thomas will be interesting to watch in camp, he sure looks ready but it is a big jump from Junior to the NHL.

Penguins Projected Lineup
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Chigurrhh</b></div><div>Looks about right.
Switch Simon and ZAR. Switch Oleksiak and Johnson.
Simon played right with the team last year. ZAR was used as a left winger.
Oleksiak played his best hockey last year on the right side. Johnson has spent most of his career on the left.
Also, Hayes can be sent to the AHL. No need to keep him up. This allows for there to be more deadline cap space (around $5 million).</div></div>
Okay. I wasn't sure which side ZAR and Simon were more comfortable. Same with Oleksiak and Johnson, makes sense that the veteran gets to stay on his preferred side tho. Most teams carry 23 guys regardless of cap situation.

Yeah, I was just throwing together ideal lines for when teams are healthy. Byron and Shaw will also miss the start of the season apparently. I think Pacioretty will be around until the trade deadline.

Yeah, I really like this team, aside from their third line center. You are probably right, one of those rookies will likely take the spot and push Laughton down to the fourth line. Will be an interesting battle to watch in training camp.
