Feel like St. Louis can still do better than this. Trade him to the Devils and get a few mid round picks while not taking salary back.

After watching him this season, his ceiling looks like 30 points. Dude was terrible. Was given every opportunity this year and did nothing with it.

Problem is, we weren't expecting Giroux to still be one of our two best players still. There was a sizeable gap between Giroux/Coots and the rest of the team last year. Ideally, guys like Konecny, Provorov, and Hart wouldn't have all regressed last season thus pushing the importance of Giroux down a little bit. Flyers can't really afford to lose Giroux after seeing how last year went now.

Next Year
Giving Giroux, at 34 y/o, an eight year deal at 6+ sounds like a terrible idea. Also, Seattle and Arizona aren't doing that.

It's two rosters players for one. They don't have the money to add another top 9 forward. JVR isn't overpaid at 5 million, that's fair value for his production. Marner is better than Konency no doubt, but I don't think the difference between the two is JVR retained and a 1st. Plus we need scorers more than playmakers.

Coming from a Flyers fan, Hextall is not about that action. Don't expect much more than his overrated drafting ability and minimal nhl roster moves.

Myers decision making was atrocious last season. That's why he was getting scratched. He's younger so maybe he can still figure it out. If not, I don't see him as anything more than fringe second pair guy.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>editor9999</b></div><div>Somehow Philly is supposed to make the playoffs though.</div></div>
Prior to this, I don't think they're as far off as it seemed. They got the worse goaltending in NHL history and still finished in the top 20 of the league. Had they got league average goaltending last year they were probably a playoff team. Assuming Hart bounces back to what he was in his first two years, they'll be good enough in net. And Ellis was good addition at a cheap cost. This trade makes no sense though. I still think they can be a playoff team, it's just that I think they're only that. They're a bubble team, not a true contender. That's the issue.

(CHI/CBJ) - Boqvist, 1st, 1st, 2nd for Jones, 1st, 6th
Wow. Just wow. What an absolute battle it's been today for the prestigious title of "Dumbest GM in the League." A lot of great contestants to choose from on this fine Friday evening. Chris Dury from New York with a strong entry trading Pavel Buchnevich for a gritty fourth liner and signing Goodrow to a fabulous six year deal because Tom Wilson exist. Vancouver's Jim Benning with his yearly entry today can't be overlooked. Counting on OEL to bounce back despite going to a worse defensive team will surely work out. Stan Bowman's Blackhawks going ALL IN despite not being close to a contender and giving Seth Jones that massive contract. Certainly a worthy entry. Great work Bowman, you POS. Less we forgot, Chuck Fletcher proving just how much nepotism exist in hockey with sending a 1st and 2nd round pick for one of the worst analytical players in the league. Chuck's reading the CBA as we speak to see if he can sign Risto to a 14 year deal. Plenty of great entries to choose from today. Can't wait for next week's edition when free agency opens up.
