Keep Crow in Chicago Reddit
Minnesota wouldn’t make this trade for one year, but I can see an extension being put in place as part of the trade. I don’t know if Shaw is a first line player, but if he’s healthy then he could be the guy that gets in on the forecheck so that toews and kubalik can concentrate on their own game. I think moving de Haan over maata is the right call, if maata regresses next year it is an easy contract to buy out. I’d like to see the hawks bring in a forward for the third line, maybe Craig smith. Crawford seems to want playing time over a big money contract, so 2 years by 4 million could work. This isn’t a team that will go deep into the postseason, but it’s hard for me to see a way that could be the case given the cap situation and current talent.

KEEP DADDY
Sucks to see Saad go, but definitely clears up some of the cap problems for the Hawks. It’d be nice to trade maata for a low pick, but I agree that buy out will be necessary.

Bring OEL HOME
Ducks trade may be unrealistic, but the value is there I think. I like the Arizona trade, and if Colorado trade doesn’t happen then I could see another team jumping on that. Barrie deal is tough, I think he’d want a little more than that but you never know after his okay season this year. Love the revamp d for the caps, definitely needed it after this year’s excuse of a defense in the second half of the season. Gallant could lead this team to a cup hahahah

Making the Playoffs
If people are object to the saad trade for Elvis, which is reasonable because I don’t think Columbus trades for him again under the same regime, then I wouldn’t be object to trading strome for korpisalo. Korpisalo is on a very manageable contract for the next two years. Even if it’s strome and a second round pick for korpisalo, I’d take that trade. This would keep a third line of saad-suter-shaw which I think is a great third line. The hawks could even potentially bring in a 1B goalie like khudobin, or Halak (although I think he stays in Boston).

Trading 17th pick
Why play nylander on a defense oriented line in the first place? Especially when you’re gonna sit him down for the entire second half of the game

They’re right, highmore was higher up in the lineup. Nylander was put on 4th line and then shown the bench so that Kane could double shift on third line and highmore could move down to Nylander’s spot lol

Must have changed his mind after seeing nylander sit the bench again

If the contract is 4 mil x 3 years, then it would only be a second round pick.

Spit Balling on Ehlers
If the jets really wanted strome so badly, they would just offer sheet him and give up a second round pick. Wouldn’t have to lose Ehlers then. You’re gonna need to attach a second or third round pick to Smith if you’re gonna dump him off to a team.

Debrincat Is gone
Didn’t panarin get 2 years at $6 mil average after one season of high level play? This is when the salary cap was $73 million and not the $81.5 it will be this upcoming year. So I don’t see it being ridiculous that kubalik gets 2 years for $5-$5.5 million average. You can talk about how ridiculous a strome trade for Francouz is, but Strome’s trade value is lowering with every game that Colliton shows him the bench (a recurring theme this playoffs). So why not use him to get a goalie to replace Crawford as starter at a much more affordable number?

Debrincat Is gone
If you’re gonna trade debrincat for financial security in Keller, then why would the coyotes make that trade 1 for 1 when they’re giving up the security? Only reason is because they view Debrincat to be the better player, as someone has alluded to already in the 2017 Columbus trade debacle. Kubalik needs more money, and if you really want a goalie that hasn’t shown he can carry the load then I guess georgiev will suffice.

Blackhawks Competitive Team
Tell me how I’m wrong about nylander? He continually plays among the least of all Blackhawks players, that shows there is no trust in him by the coach. And Hischier just got signed to a major contract over 7 mil per year with stats similar to strome. Just because Point got a 3 year bridge deal doesn’t automatically mean strome will be coming in at under 4 mil.

Actually he didn't blow any opportunities with Toews, they play completely different games and therefore aren't good linemates.

Nylander proved he could stick in the NHL this year, and Is only going to get better as time goes on. I know you don't have any concept of time, as displayed by your trade idea and FA signings, but good young players are better than Okay veterans.[/quote]
Nylander did not show himself to be anything more than a below average scoring winger in the nhl. The kid takes up ice and that’s it. You could put a run of the mill ahler in there, and he’d produce as much as nylander.

Signing these guys to contracts below $4 million don’t count. If strome is really a young top 6 center like you say, then you’re looking at over $5 million. Same can be said with kubalik after potting 30 goals this year. So I don’t know how you can realistically keep both.</div></div>

How does askarov help the Blackhawks? By the time he develops into a starter, the championship window is closed. This year, Francouz split almost dead even with grubauer and put up .923 sv%. At his contract and the hawks cap crunch, that’s a lot more valuable and worthwhile than keeping Strome. At this point, strome is third line center behind Toews and Dach. He is not suited for a third line role, so why spend $4 million per year on that. On the avs, strome can push Kadri down to the third line, a role that he played on the maple leafs. Seems like a trade that works for both teams. Let’s not act like nylander shouldn’t be a scratch, there’s a reason that when Kane double shifts he is taking Nylander’s spot. Give me galchenyuk, who may be inconsistent, but can actually contribute to a playoff team.
