Amen to that! not a secret. We big time need to get better at winning the draw. I hope Schlemko is gone by the end of this season and Alzner is a good guy but Bergevin paid him too much for a 3rd pairing.

I agree with your top 6 D. Personally, I would prefer to see De La Rose play instead of A. Shaw. He played really well yesterday. Can he sustain that over 20 games or will he disappear? Also, Danault seems to play better with Patch. But this is what MTL has, so it will be interesting. I want them to lose so we get a higher pick but they have played well last four games.

I think both happen and MTL should get two 4th`s.

3 teams deal MTL-LA-FLO
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Why does LA trade Toffevli who has 3 more goals than Patches and has a contract one year longer? No one trades picks like that anymore cause you never know how the lottery balls will fall.</div></div>
While I agree it would never happen straight up as LA would need to add, it drives me nuts when people compare players solely based on the current year point performance. By your logic, you wouldn't trade William Karlsson for Seguin because he has less points and is a UFA after next year.

That sounds like a Pitts problem, Mtl has options to move Plekanec elsewhere for a 2nd pick without any salary retention.

What do you think you're going to get for Nash? NYR has very limited options because his cap hit is sooo high. ANY trade involves eating half his salary...and that's pretty much a guarantee. The cap has nothing to do with talent. It's just the only possible way any trade happens. NYR get's no additional value...because again...they HAVE TO RETAIN. Now look at it from Nashville's poinit of view...he's not a top 6 player on their team. He's a fine player. He can indeed make a difference, but he's a goal scorer that's on pace for his 5th season out of the last 6 being sub 40 points. It's not like he a bruiser or defensive stopper.

Rangers retain half. That's a given. His value is Hanzal's value from last year. 1st + 2nd + low level prospect. His season totals are a function of Vigneault who doesn't give his top liners proper minutes. You'll see that he hasn't gotten much above 1100 minutes in the past few years while say Forsberg and Johansen have been clocking in around 14-1500 minutes. That's on the coach. Nash rates haven't changed much. His High Dangers scoring chances have consistently been at the top part of the league. He's on our PK squad and is great there. And he's a super high possession power forward. He gets a 1st + 2nd+ low prospect to be in your top 6.

That's fair. Good analysis! TDL moves do garner a greater return. I think he may get a little less, but I do like your comp. Solid!

If your looking to shed contract TOR or NYI might want Petry or Alzner they are looking for D and we might be able to get better return than a 3rd rd pick. You would be trading a NHL caliber d-man for the potential at 30% the player you pick in the 3rd round makes the nhl and with that most turn out to be bottom 6 or low end d-pairings. Unless you hit the jackpot and your scouting was spot on, but the law of averages are against you.IF drouin continues to play center this team will continue to struggle, he and galls are not centers as much as we would like them to be. Danault would make a better 2 center than drouin and i would not even do that</div></div>
Very much agree with this logic.

As I said, specifics of the trade weren't a concern, other than Marner being included, because his next contract will at least be significant. Young roster player, pick, prospect is reasonable, but this may be the higher end of value, sure. Less than Liljegren or less than a first can be considered, but it has to be Marner or Nylander for it to work.
As someone else said. Weber's a top defenseman. If you can't fit his 8Mish, don't bother dreaming about Doughty, Karlsson, OEL or the like.
