Lines need a shake up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MatthewsFan</b></div><div>That’s not the first time I’ve seen someone say that and it’s really concerning if both Tavares and Marner can’t elevate one another. I’m not worried about Ritchie, he can be moved around the lineup. Marner’s issues from the playoffs have seemed to trickled into the start of the season. Granted he probably gets a point last night if Igor doesn’t play out his mind and Matthews pots one. But I haven’t liked Mitch’s game to start the year. There is too much cap tied to Tavares and Marner for them not to produce. They both need to be much much better</div></div>
The good thing though, is if he can get over this hurdle (surely to God he can) maybe he starts treating every game like it's a playoff game.
I don't mind the Leafs having to win the hard way or win ugly all year if it gets them (and specifically Marner) more prepared for playoff hockey.
If 80% of games this season is a 5-1 win, and it comes pretty easy, that seems to be where they struggle to turn it up a notch when the games get real.

thank you for having a brain and not trading marner 4 games into the season, like certain other "fans"

Good let them do it. Dubas has done very well to steer ckear of bad contracts. Let’s keep it that way. Kampf is bad enough.

Large overpayment. clear cap and wait for him to be sent down on waivers again.

See now your talking! That would get the leafs attention.

Columbus barely accepts this. Johansson is nothing more then a middle 6 wing. The only thing about it is the fact that’s we’re getting a LW for a RW. And we get our own pick back.....

Columbus accepts. Would probably ask for a 2nd but would settle for the 3rd.

Anyone who thinks Marner will sign an offersheet is a moron
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mattyicemattyslice</b></div><div>horrible contract</div></div>
You missed the point completely. The point is that the Leafs could overpay Marner on a bridge deal and still be fine cap wise (assuming that Marner wants to make $11M+).

You say Aho getting 8.5 means Marner will definitely get way more than 10. That doesn't compute, Aho is very close to as valuable as Marner and got 8.5. That shows Marner is asking too much.

Another Marner Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jangle29</b></div><div>Have you read what his dad has done and is doing?</div></div>
This is the concerning thing to me. I like Mitch alot as a player, and how he carries himself in public. But the way is old man is inserting himself in this has family dysfunction written all over it.
Has anyone ever had a crazy girlfriend? Sometimes its best to part ways early on.. and see what else is out there that makes you happy

This is definitely a better team than if they resign Marner.

Kadri LW
I dont mind moving Kadri over to the wing, or even Matthews for that matter. I really think Boyle is past the point of being a 3C though. I'd rather take a stab at a Filppula-type player who'd be more of use on the 3C but cost similiar. Like the idea.

Why so serious
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>yanp007</b></div><div>The minute after Tkachuk signed the offer, Calgary will match it and trade him to have place under the cap. 2 minutes after, Marner, Kapanen and Johnsson will receive an offer that TML will not able to match.</div></div>
Too bad you can't do that? If a team matches an offer sheet. Said player can't be traded for one year.

Even as a rental, he'll get a lot in a trade. Top pairing RD are hard to come by.

$801 in cap space? That's not even enough to pay for a meal for the whole team. Is that a good roast?

What's wrong with it? as a RHD free agent, my guess is he gets 6.5+ somewhere. easily
