Yeah the Sprong part isn't an overreaction, that's just an observation, I really like the looks of him and he seems to play well w/ Fabbri. I think if anyone is traded from the 8 D it would be Maata. I like him but his game is replaceable and his contract isn't too bad.

Now if Raanta DID end up on waivers, I would take him over Reimer at the same cap hit any day. Adding Stalock or Stolarz over Reimer is a step backwards. Tampa can't expect to keep in the top of the standings with no goaltending for 2 months. Ott/Det/Buff are coming for the old dogs and with no #88 and no replacement of note for TB, that would put them way behind.

My understanding is that there is a request waiver that NHL teams can make of their junior teams to allow the player to go to the AHL. From what I found on the interwebs that's what Shane Wright is doing this year? Whether Brandon would agree to that is another story but that's what I was referring to.

Reimer is on the NHL team basically no matter what and Elmer likely starts in GR. They're not going to have Berg ride the bench, he played 70 games last year.</div></div>
Did you read the title? "line predictions/overreactions" overreactions is the key part of that. Elmer, Fabbri and Danielson have looked better than Berggren and Veleno, each having played 1 game. There are what, 5 more games to play? Lots can change, including Burger likely outplaying those other guys...

The Holland part was a joke, we lived w/ that nightmare for many years. The roster part is that you currently have 21/23 players on your roster w/ $3.5M in cap. Bouchard will cost more than that and you'll still be a short roster.

ECF Dreaming
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Lancebmx</b></div><div>So let me get this straight. You pay San Jose Hanas, Maatta, a second and a fourth for Karlsson with a bunch of retention. Then you send Karlsson with a bit more retention to Carolina for Pesce, Drury, a first, a second and a fourth. Then you are like nah I don't actually want these assets and send Drury, a first and second back to Carolina. So the way I see it we paid Maatta, Hanas, a second plus we are retaining on Karlsson's contract for 4 years for Pesce? Then after all of that you state that he is gone and we don't even re-sign him? Why would we pay all that for a bit of an upgrade for one year? Besides the fact we just signed Maatta to an extension so that would be a grease ball move to trade him.
Now I look at the Seattle trade and think, wow we have 15 LHD in the system and that isn't even an exaggeration. Why are we trading for one? Also why would Seattle give up what would be one of their best defencemen? Also elite prospects rates Buchelnikov #29 before the draft of NHL top prospects. Why would we trade him for a player in a position we have an abundance for? Then you underpaid Dunn by well over a million.
Philly trade isn't close for them. Now I will say they way over value Konecny but this doesn't get it done. Fabbri has no value. McIsaac has no value really. Mastrosimone has no value since he is a UFA in a month. So really whichever first we don't send to Ottawa isn't enough and also probably not worth us sending the better of the two picks either.
Boston trade isn't close and trading guys you just signed is dogsiht thing to do.
I know you are trying to expedite winning and this might be a playoff team but it would be really bad for our future.</div></div>
Lance you need to re-read a few things. In short, I made an error that I've since fixed in the 3-way trade w/ CH and SJ. Second, I said that I think we can re-sign the youngins, ie Seider/Raymond/Berg along w/ Pesce. THAT would mean that Perron/Ghost and likely Husso are gone. Most importantly, f-ing relax dude, I'm not sure you got the memo but this is for fun, if you don't like it, don't read it.
Ps. Dunn is really good at playing defense in the NHL right now and is an unsigned RFA. Johansson and/or Ed and/or Wallinder MIGHT one day be good at playing LD in the NHL. You want to wait until they're ready? Cool, put that in your ACGM. I wanted to make one that adds a bunch of "Yzerman window" RFAs that are good NHL players to the wings to see what it would look like.

3x yes, good point. You're on the ball for 6am. Here's the thing, if the rumors are true CH is battling Pitt for Karlsson. It's a win-now move and Pitt's core is old af so their window to win is now. Carolina obv isn't AS old but as you know they are really good and maybe a move like this gets them another cup.
That said, the package to get EK is going to be super expensive. I personally think trading PK is a bad idea, but like I said that's something I read. BUT, trading a good NHLer, a prospect, a 1st, 2 2nds and a 4th is not unreasonable for a 50% retained EK. To get him at 75% retained for 4 years, best guess is you're losing another 2nd at minimum, possibly a 1st. You figure most times team retain $1M for 1 year they get a 4th, so extrapolate from there if you're having a team retain $3-4M for 4 years. That's a huge ask in a flat cap.

Yeah showing the 3 way trades are tricky. Basically CH getting EK at $6M/year, the wings getting Pesce and the Sharks getting a crap ton of picks/prospects.

TBH that part of the trade wasn't my idea, I saw it on the internets earlier today but I can't find it again to cite it. Steep for sure but you get a 2x Norris trophy winner to run your PP for 4 years at $6M.

Read the synopsis please. Carolina is getting EK at $6M/year, so 50%-ish retained. Det is basically trading an NHL D (who I know you don't like) a B+ F prospect, a 2nd and a 4th to San Jose for Pesce, who they don't need and prob don't want to pay while they're rebuilding. Det is getting a 4th from CH for the $1M retention for 4 years, which is probably low tbh.

7th, 9th close enough, but touché, you too are an NHL nerd. I don't know anything about Coughlan or Chatfield, but I assumed that one of them would be on the roster. The "plan" that I heard was that CH are completing the trade to bring Anthony Deangelo back via trade w/ Philly. They have to wait until July 7th to avoid cap circumvention per the league. Once DA is back on your team w/ his $2.5M cap hit, plus your RFA re-signing, you will be over the cap. Plus, there have been rumors that if Pesce didn't sign an extension by 7/1 then he would be traded. No extension, and you have 4-5 NHL RD once the DA trade is done.

I wouldn't have any issue w/ a 1st and Veleno, but I think you're way undervaluing AJ and a $3M LD. Maata+2nd is worth a middle 1st and AJ+4th is worth more than Veleno. I like Veleno but he's a 15-20 goal 3rd/4th line ceiling guy. Not sure top 10 RHD but definitely a good one and definitely making $4M which is great. But, you guys have too many RHDs in front of him, especially when you complete the Deangelo trade. If you make the Karlsson trade, I'd assume Pesce is going to SJ.
