Ok last one before the deadline
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BDHockey</b></div><div>Yeah I understand the concern. I think his playstyle will last fine throughout his contract and the total cap hit % won't be that bad on the back half of the contract. The biggest concern with having veterans signed long term is the risk of injury, which is what it is.
I don't really share the same concern about Parayko, but I am glad that so many other teams are looking out for us and taking the contract off our hands. :tearsofjoy</div></div>
Hey just trying to help, lol.

See my reply to BD Hockey. If you think paying a 35/36 year old big dude $6.5M is good value/cap management then I'm afraid you're deluded. (see the ghost of Jeff Petry) That said, I'm trying make a win/win for the best bud GMs. And the Buch carve-out is more than fair, he's really good but sheesh.

I think he's a good player, but that's a really long contract for a big guy at $6.5M per. I sort of look at Holl as a not as good replacement for $3M LESS per season for 4 years less, or they retain and flip him. Plus they got the 6th. What do you think makes it more fair? Make the 6th a 4th or 5th?

All of these trades are significantly in the Wings favor, as a result looking very similar to the trades that I like to propose, therefore I 100% approve this message.

Agreed. 1st and 2nd, yes, but Berggren now isn't as good as Tuch then, and Wallinder now vs. Krebs then? I don't remember but prob a toss up.

Bling blings
I would take that 100% if I were the Wings. It's a lot to give up but they could flip Binnington in the offseason or next TDL if he and Lyon aren't a good tandem. Having Buch on the roster makes us much more dangerous if they can figure out the cap w/ the Mo/Razer contracts. The retention helps too.

I would be ok with that. They don't really need the salary retention, especially if the trade gets cheaper for the Wings.

Go for a deep run why not
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jamnjon</b></div><div>Unless Kahkonen seems like he's not going to re-sign with the Sharks (could very well be the case), I doubt they move him for a 4th. He's young enough that he could be around for the next good Sharks team and has performed very well this season. The odds that whoever they take with a 4th will make the NHL are slim, and they'd be better off keeping him.
Add to this no goalie coming back the other way, even though there will only be 20 games left (assuming after the TDL), none of their AHL goalies are really ready to play at the NHL level. That's doubly important with Blackwood hurt, even though it seems like he'll be back in around 1-2 weeks.</div></div>
Alright Reimer for Kahkonen, you talked me into it!

In fairness, I haven't seen Pickard play since he was a Wing and he was awful and also I just saw Reimer play his a$$ off last week vs. a very fired up Chicago team so I'm def biased. That said, maybe a 5th? Edmonton is a cup contender and going into the playoffs without at least a veteran backup is scary.

Two different trades at two different times, but yes, that's exactly right. Florida is a likely pres trophy/cup winner so a very low 2nd.

These are hands down the most annoying comments. One day, I hope to achieve as much as you have as a pretend GM and only then will I add commentary to the unwashed masses feeble attempts at GM-ery. If you have actual commentary I'd love to hear it, but keep your internet-person nonsense to yourself. 'sigh'

If you want Jake unretained, you would start with what Lindholm returned and go from there. Add retention and it’s way more.</div></div>
I meant to delete the retention anyway, so you can have that back. I was going to do a couple of other things and then didn't. As far as the trade value, there is no way you're getting as much as what Cal got for Lindholm. 1 he's a center, 2 it was a month more of the season, and 3 he was healthy. The team that gets Guentzel is going to have to hope he gets back to 100% with a month-ish to go in the season and he won't be back (from what I've heard) before the trade deadline, so that leap of faith is going to cost value for the Pens.

Just messing w/ the following year numbers they could sign their RFAs and sign one of Hanifan or Guentzal (at $7M per) I think that's pretty good. Keep in mind the current roster players they'd be trading aren't great, i.e. Holl/Fabbri/Reimer etc. If Kahkonen turned out to be good and Husso can never get right they can sign KK and buy out Husso.

Yeah the Sprong part isn't an overreaction, that's just an observation, I really like the looks of him and he seems to play well w/ Fabbri. I think if anyone is traded from the 8 D it would be Maata. I like him but his game is replaceable and his contract isn't too bad.

Now if Raanta DID end up on waivers, I would take him over Reimer at the same cap hit any day. Adding Stalock or Stolarz over Reimer is a step backwards. Tampa can't expect to keep in the top of the standings with no goaltending for 2 months. Ott/Det/Buff are coming for the old dogs and with no #88 and no replacement of note for TB, that would put them way behind.

My understanding is that there is a request waiver that NHL teams can make of their junior teams to allow the player to go to the AHL. From what I found on the interwebs that's what Shane Wright is doing this year? Whether Brandon would agree to that is another story but that's what I was referring to.

Reimer is on the NHL team basically no matter what and Elmer likely starts in GR. They're not going to have Berg ride the bench, he played 70 games last year.</div></div>
Did you read the title? "line predictions/overreactions" overreactions is the key part of that. Elmer, Fabbri and Danielson have looked better than Berggren and Veleno, each having played 1 game. There are what, 5 more games to play? Lots can change, including Burger likely outplaying those other guys...

What does Holland's value have to do with any of this? That is the type of package that would get Bouchard. Not a couple of spare parts and late picks...</div></div>
The Holland part was a joke, we lived w/ that nightmare for many years. The roster part is that you currently have 21/23 players on your roster w/ $3.5M in cap. Bouchard will cost more than that and you'll still be a short roster.
