Go for a deep run why not

Created by: mcgruff16
Team: 2023-24 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 29, 2024
Published: Feb. 29, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Admittedly ambitious but getting a couple good prime-aged players in key spots makes this team a super tough out in the playoffs. Trade value is likely Wings biased but close I think for most.

I’d say no. Fabbri has come back to life since returning from his 1,756th injury but not worth the risk.

Meh, Riemer has had a much better career but hardly improves the oilers goaltending today, not enough to pay a mid pick for him

Let me get this straight lmao

In net terms, Arizona gets Holl and NYI's 3rd... in exchange, they're trading a 2nd?

Huh????

I would probably not trade Buchelnikov, but that's overall not a bad deal.

Also, unless you have someone very specific in mind, trading multiple picks to move up is a bad idea. Once you get past the 20th pick or so, picks start to blur in value.

That's a very unappealing return for Buchnevich.

What do you think needs to be added? Make a second a protected first?

Two different trades at two different times, but yes, that's exactly right. Florida is a likely pres trophy/cup winner so a very low 2nd.

In fairness, I haven't seen Pickard play since he was a Wing and he was awful and also I just saw Reimer play his a$$ off last week vs. a very fired up Chicago team so I'm def biased. That said, maybe a 5th? Edmonton is a cup contender and going into the playoffs without at least a veteran backup is scary.

I don't dislike berggren as a prospect, but I also don't see where he fits into our group long-term.

I would prefer Wallinder to Johansson.

And yes probably the 24' pick.

I would probably be happy with Berggren + Wallinder + 24 1st with protection + 25/26 2nd. I get it's pretty much splitting hairs between Johansson and Wallinder, but would much prefer Wallinder's profile. Again I don't really see a need for Berggren but can understand the inclusion and do see the value in him. I just don't see a fit.

Kings aren't trading their best defensive defenseman now that Mikey Anderson is week-to-week. They're barely hanging on to a playoff spot as it is.

At the very least, start with Wallinder and the 24 1st. Or if you reeeally do not want to trade the 24 1st , start by whispering... "Simon". Nickel and diming won't work for Buch. It's gonna hurt.

It’s tonight to say, oilers only have so much cap space, if they bring in Riemer there’s a chance they’ll miss out on other options that help the team a little more. The oilers could use an upgrade on either skinner or pickard but I just don’t think riemers it

Unless Kahkonen seems like he's not going to re-sign with the Sharks (could very well be the case), I doubt they move him for a 4th. He's young enough that he could be around for the next good Sharks team and has performed very well this season. The odds that whoever they take with a 4th will make the NHL are slim, and they'd be better off keeping him.

Add to this no goalie coming back the other way, even though there will only be 20 games left (assuming after the TDL), none of their AHL goalies are really ready to play at the NHL level. That's doubly important with Blackwood hurt, even though it seems like he'll be back in around 1-2 weeks.

Alright Reimer for Kahkonen, you talked me into it!
