offer sheeted
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>I don't understand the purpose of the post. I imagine the Leafs match those offer sheets. So the Leafs are at roster of 22m and are 7m over cap. Then they trade Nylander for futures....</div></div>
think the purpose was to show this team has to do lots in the offseason

10 players i think get offer sheets
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dzad96</b></div><div>I don't think most people understand how offer sheets work. First the player would actually have to sign it and accept the contract and the possibility of going to whatever team offered the offer sheet. After that IF the player signed one the team has the chance to match the offer. There's a reason this stuff never happens. Maybe 3 of those guys actually receive an offer sheet. and MAYBE MAX 1 actually signs it, and even then their team likely just matches it anyways. All this offer sheet talk is ridiculous. Last time one happened was like 5 years ago. This is dumb.</div></div>
Technically, the first step is that the player doesn't sign a qualifying offer. The deadline for QO's is draft day IIRC, so that means that the player would have to go through most of June with no progress on a deal. Seeing as the guys at risk of being-offer sheeted are probably the most important guys to lock down, I'd expect the teams to be smart enough to get the deals done before the OS possibility even arrives. The timing alone will reduce the total number of offer sheet possibilities pretty drastically, the way I see it.
And if the counter-example is Nylander, I absolutely believe that someone should have offer-sheeted him around the time when training camp started. Would TOR match 7.5 x 5? Maybe, but he was easily worth the 1st, 2nd, 3rd compensatory picks at that contract.

who goes
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>mcoach69</b></div><div>do you think Karlsson signs for that or is he a prime candidate for a offer sheet</div></div>
Not a prime candidate but one of the many potential candidates this year for sure. He's proven to be a legitimate top 6 forward this year but I don't see him signing for more than 6 mill AAV. Having Stone on his line will help his production though.

different deadline deals
Why is everyone in Winnipeg afraid to give up future assets for a shot to win a Stanley cup. The addition of Stone makes them the favorite in the west. you wouldn't trade away a very good prospect for a Stanley cup?

Edmonton does that trade all day, not quite enough for Zibanejad. Would mean moving Laine in off season though.

Zaitsev and Brown and they would get really creative when it comes to cap space, they have personell to do so

Toronto Maple Leafs signed Auston Matthews (5 Years / $11,640,250 AAV)
A<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>KSIxSKULLS</b></div><div>Matthews gets paid the 2nd highest AAV in the NHL and Toronto doesn't buy a single year of UFA. Good Job Dubas.</div></div>
I realize the term isnt ideal as he will be a UFA so not a great contract but I think Dubas worked with what he was given and if im a leafs fan im content with this contract, not happy but not upset. This makes the trade deadline and outlook on the offseason alot easier (Leafs will have 7 mil in cap space according to capfriendly). Interested to see how he does.
