i agree with you about Andersson & Howden. #3 Centers, but that's not a bad thing. Chytil should not have started last year in NY so we lost a year of development.
The problem with Henrique is not only the money but the term and his age. If the Rangers were going all in this season then maybe i'd consider it but they are not so its a non starter for me.
as far as Give Quality to Get quality goes. In today's NHL a cost controlled 23 year old Right Handed D-man is WAY more valuable then a 30 year old 2nd Line Center making $5.8 Million for the next 5 years
Forget about the lack of a #2 Center for now. Give the kids time. if we're in this situation a year or two from now, the Rangers will go out and get someone either through trade or free agency

Good luck against that 4th line
I think most Rangers fans will agree on the personnel on the roster. With that said, try to find any two who agrees on lines is a different story.
Obviously we all agree on the 1st line..
Panarin, = Zibanejad = Buchnevich
Now the fun begins
Your 2nd line wingers are a lock, but Howden is NO 2nd line Center. He's lucky he's lucky not in Hartford. Last year he had a great start and because of it people turned a blind eye to how bad he was in the 2nd half. Do you really think the Rangers signed Heley today for just another body? No the reason is so when/if Howden struggles they have someone to play the 4th line Center and the'll send him down to develop like they are now doing with Chytil. Don;t get me wrong I like him as a player and i do believe he'll have success at the NHL level. I just feel they rushed him last year and he needs more then 9 minutes a game.
My #2 Line
Kreider = Strome = Kaapo - Strome is more experienced and has played #2 and knows whats expected of him.
I have no problem with your 3rd Line. But I would swap Andersson to Center and Namestnikov to RW and since I already Strome on the 2nd line i'd put Lemieux, on LW
I think this line will drive other teams nuts.
3rd Line
Lemieux = Andersson = Namestnikov
Assuming Howden stays I would put him at 4th Center. I would Dress Fast at RW (He's to talented and versatile to not have in the lineup.) Now I know i'm in the minority but I like Brandon Smiths versatility. But now that they have McKegg's toughness in the lineup, I'll concede the point and keep Smith on the sidelines.
4th Line
McKegg = Howden = Fast
I totally agree with your Defensive pairings.
Scratches: Smith & Heley
*Do not be surprised if Howden gets sent down when they recall Kravtov
I hope you found no offense in my observations. I did enjoy yours.

Thanks for the input. I agree with the disappointment about Chytil but with Hartford now being run as a development tool, with people on the same page as Coach Quinn I think it will help the organization
I also agree with you about Howden. Last year I think people got so sucked in with his great start they were blind to how awful he was. I not picking on the kid, I just thought he wasn't ready. Quite frankly I think it wouldn't hurt for him to start the season in Hartford.
I originally had McKegg in my lineup but I swaped him out for Smith.
1) because we have two rookies on Defense and If one of them is having a bad night (Like if DQ needs to bench someone)
2 If a D-man takes a penalty Smith could drop back for the PK
and 3) If a d-man gets hurt in a game smith could drop back.
Last year when Pionk was Mr Norris and DeA was stuck in Street Cloths I said the Rangers should move him to RW on the 4th line. He was clearly better then some of the forwards he had. I told a friend that Pionk was playing way over his head and if DeA was given the same opportunity he would prove to be the much better player.
Again thanks for the feedback.
LETS GO RANGERS

Anaheim
Please explain the logic of trading 23 year old Defenseman who is just coming into his own that we're paying less then $1,000,000 for this season and we control for the next few seasons as well. for a 30 year old Center we'd have to pay almost $6,000,000 for 5 years until hes almost 35.
Also if anything the NYRS are looking to dump Namestrikov's $4,000,000 salary. Your trade actually adds almost $6,000,000 for 5 YEARS.
Don't think for a minute the Rangers are done rebuilding. A trade like that hurts long term. We already have a bunch of players coming off their ELCs who are going to need raises.
Why do you think they aren't negotiating an extension with Krieder? Because he's 29 and going to look to cash in. As much as I love him He's a luxury NY can't afford. Not now or 5 years from now He's not going to be a hometown discount. I love the guy and having Panarin and him on the left is potentially explosive. But don't think for a minute come the deadline, even if the Rangers are in the playoff hunt, Jim Gorton wont sell him off to the highest bidder and bring back at least 1 #1 pick and or a top NHL ready prospect.
I get your trying to bring in a veteran center, but the Rangers organization has young talented Centers that they are trying to develop. If we were close to being a real playoff team in 1 or 2 years and the younger guys cant get it done, the Rangers will go out and get what they need.
This is a Salary Cap driven league. And the bad contracts you take on now - Adam Henrique - will all come back to bite you in the butt when you need that extra $5.8 million.
I also don't understand why the Ducks would want to do this trade. FWD- Namestikov 1 year $4 mil 26 yrs old UFA, DEF- DeAngelo 1 year $925,000 -RFA for an Established Center at a reasonable price tag
By the way the only reason Anaheim has $9.2 million is because they have over $10 million on INJURED RESERVED
BTW - Rykov is a Left Defenseman who can play the Right side if needed.
