new coach and new players
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoreHitzSeider</b></div><div>You can say this about any UFA. Heard the same about Panarin.</div></div>
panarin had a career year by having 5 more points than his previous best. forsberg had a career year by 20 points more than his previous best. does not quite matchup the same. more often than not the player will regress back to their normal stat line and then get old and even worse.

I know it looks good but he is likely to regress and it almost never works out after you pay a player after a career year

I'm looking at the next few years and factoring in eventual big paydays for Larkin, Bertuzzi, Raymond, Seider. I'm lukewarm on spending big money on Trochek. I'd sooner go after Forsberg.</div></div>
I think Valeri would be great if we could get him for something more like 3 years but i dont think its possible since he will be getting better offers. Hard no on trocheck for me and also huge risk signing forsberg after he scores his career high and also has a career high shooting percentage

You are right on that one I have no idea what blashills startegy was but it never seemed to have a breakthrough and never looked like he had full interest from the players

that would be for dubas to decide but i cant imagine its more than what nylander makes and it would also leave room to possibly target someone in free agency

yeah it would be a lot to ask of young guys but the options in ufa for center are just not good in my opinion. And why do you not like nichuskin. He is a elite playdrivery and is also elite on defense and in my opinion would be a great addition to the team

Turning it around
I like the fiala trade but first of all, wouldnt give up Rasmussen. Think we have enough prospects that we could offer and ras is on a good contract and starting to show good progression. Plus signing him to 8 years would be risky. Still love the idea of getting fiala although.

Yeah I think Hronek needs to go sooner rather than later if they ever want to get any value out of him

Edvinsson is probably untouchable as of now since he is playing so good in Europe and seems to be a perfect fit to make the wings for next season. Would trade Edvinsson for a select few players but Barzal is not one of them

Lou is old so you are probably right about him using plus minus. Also Brock Nelson is shooting a very sustainable 22.8% this season.

I think a lot of gms aren't very good at identifying talent and may look at hroneks point totals and think he is better than he actually is. Lou comes to mind as one of the gms that would maybe do something like this in my opinion

You’re getting defensive because the islanders won’t trade their franchise center , unreal 😂</div></div>
not sure if you missed what I just said to someone else but I said it would be ideal if they could find a center through the draft. like Savoie, Lambert, trikozov

They really gave us false hope at the start of the season and it has just gone downhill. Hopefully they keep losing so we can maybe acquire our 1st or 2nd line center of the future through he draft (maybe Savoie, Lambert, trikozov) and then we wouldn't even have to trade for barzal

Trades will happen probably some major UFA signings hopefully we already have 9 UFA this summer and that's a little ridiculous to have that many. Like Larkin said this team needs to start getting it's own identity. Yzerman needs to make up his mind who is here for the long term and short term. If some of these players don't have futures on the team then deal them ASAP.</div></div>
I agree. There has to be a large turnover from this year to next year if we want to see any real changes. So many players on this roster that just have no future with this team and should be dealt

Last season Barzal was a top 15 center in the league, he’s on a line with Oliver Wahlstrom right now who compliments Barzal very well. Why do you keep making things up.</div></div>
And now your former top 15 center in the league is second in points on his own team to Brock Nelson. Not ideal
