new coach and new players

Created by: moritz_shammer
Team: 2022-23 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: May 22, 2022
Published: May 22, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
hoping that the red wings hire a new coach with a more offensive style that gives players more freedom instead of playing a strict system. I do not see any long term solution for second line center in free agency so this team would heavily rely on young guys stepping in and making an impact. Everyone in scratch category is subject to get traded for whatever we could get.

Additional Details:
pressure may be on dubas to make a move for more grit in the lineup after another first round exit. I have seen many others proppose a trade similar to this one and think it would be good for both teams.

Have covid rules changed or will they change? if not there's zero chance any Canadian team takes Bertuzzi.

Stevie isn't going to throw a bunch of kids into the fire like that. Berggren and maybe Edvinsson sure. But not Soderblom and Johansson. 4 rookies? I doubt it. I can't see Juolevi being signed. No thanks on the Nylander trade or the Nichushkin signing. I'm good with drafting Savoie if he falls to us. I don't think he will though.

that would be for dubas to decide but i cant imagine its more than what nylander makes and it would also leave room to possibly target someone in free agency

yeah it would be a lot to ask of young guys but the options in ufa for center are just not good in my opinion. And why do you not like nichuskin. He is a elite playdrivery and is also elite on defense and in my opinion would be a great addition to the team

As of right now I still don't think Bertuzzi can play in Canada.

Does the way Detroit has played the last few years really look like a strict structure? Its mayhem out there. If they change covid procedures and Bert can play in toronto I can see a bert\nylander trade. We better do something at ld or none of it is going to matter.

I don't mind Nichushkin the player I just don't want to give him 5 years 6 mil AAV. I'm looking at the next few years and factoring in eventual big paydays for Larkin, Bertuzzi, Raymond, Seider. I'm lukewarm on spending big money on Trochek. I'd sooner go after Forsberg.

You are right on that one I have no idea what blashills startegy was but it never seemed to have a breakthrough and never looked like he had full interest from the players

Blashill played not to lose instead of playing to win.

I think Valeri would be great if we could get him for something more like 3 years but i dont think its possible since he will be getting better offers. Hard no on trocheck for me and also huge risk signing forsberg after he scores his career high and also has a career high shooting percentage

27 years old. 42 goals and 84 points in 69 games. That's what I know.

I know it looks good but he is likely to regress and it almost never works out after you pay a player after a career year

You can say this about any UFA. Heard the same about Panarin.

panarin had a career year by having 5 more points than his previous best. forsberg had a career year by 20 points more than his previous best. does not quite matchup the same. more often than not the player will regress back to their normal stat line and then get old and even worse.

Generalizations are convenient ways to push a false narrative. What are GM's supposed to do? Never sign UFA's? Then why do teams still do it if they all fail at it? Why is it even legal? Shouldn't the NHL save the GM's from themselves? I bet Chicago REALLY regrets signing Marian Hossa as a UFA back in 2009. I mean they only won 3 Cups with him. His regression must've killed them.
