2025 1st + 2024 2nd + Prospect (I would prefer a different piece than POJ but Pits doesn't have much going on on the prospect front... So Maybe 2026 2nd?) + All that cap space.
I would consider it from the Leafs side. Marner would need to come with an 8 year extension.
I still think Pittsburgh's best play is to trade Crosby and go full rebuild... I know that's blasphemy to most people but it's their best move.</div></div>
The issue with going full rebuild, as you touched on with Marner, is the NMCs. Even if the Pens wanted to go full rebuild, which I can understand both sides, it would require most or all of Crosby/Malkin/Letang/Karlsson/Rust to come together and waive their NMCs

We say that about VGK every year but they always manage to make these kinds of moves
Eichel, Hertl, etc.
Would not surprise me if they get a Marner deal in the works

Post elimination realistic offseason
Ovi wouldn’t want to leave a playoff team for a non playoff team lol
Caps counter with Jensen and a 3rd for Letang, Dowd and a 2nd for Malkin, or Oshie and a 2nd for Crosby. Take your pick.

Agreed here. You also have a roster of 20 with zero cap space. Carolina is on the short list of very interesting offseasons coming up. Obviously a great franchise but they have some tough decisions.

Realistic offseason but with a fun Marner trade to spice it up lol
On hell of an overpay, that's the type of package Matthews or Mackinnon would go for. Wright alone is already a lot for Seattle to give up and with how good he's looked I don't think they're gonna want to move him. Same with the 25'1st which will probably be top 15 again with their roster, Larson and Gourde could go for late 1sts on their own + the two 2nds. Marner on the open market would probably get A+ Prospect + roster player + 1st + 2nd. This is like that times 2
Edit: Everything else looks pretty good though!

I think he was really good two years ago. He was fine at best last year with .901 sv%. I believe he went into the player assistance program for some issue and it seems to have effected him a lot.

Honestly, can you give any reason at all why the current Knight deserves a top 15 pick when he isn't even putting up NHL numbers right now?

Good picks. Batherson is another good one, but Necas is arguably the biggest steal out there outside of ELC's. Tippett and Hagel for sure too.

Gaudreau isn't waiving for Nashville.
Laine has challenges you're not getting no 2nd for him.
Perron is staying in Detroit.
And more than likely Henrique is staying in Edmonton.

No thanks to Gaudreau. No interest in paying that much for that long for him to play 2nd fiddle to Forsberg

Gaudreau isn't worth that. He was before he signed in CBJ, but his value has quickly dropped from his 115 point season

Maybe just a first in next years draft with lottery protection. I could certainly see that. This is too much for a goaltender, they just don't get that kind of return. With this years draft being in the lottery I can't see them moving it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Duggysdanglers</b></div><div>Might get a second and a third. It’s tough to get good value for a G.</div></div>
With our current cap position, that’s incentive to keep him and let him leave in free agency. A 2nd and 3rd can turn into something, but most develop into AHL fodder or bottom 6 options.
Good goalies are rarely traded until they are old or their team is in a cap position where they can be leveraged.
I don’t use the price Boston paid or traded Taylor Hall for as indicative of forward values, because I can see how the contract and cap situation led to it. I kind of wish people would do the same for goalie values.
With the number of teams that imploded based on bad goaltending, I’m expecting many to have a different position if they can secure a goaltender the caliber of Ullmark. A lottery protected first seems fair. I think there is a viable option to get a first this year as well.
Only reason he’d be traded for a second and a third is if Seeeney knows he will sign two premium free agents and they need his salary slot. If that is public knowledge, it could be leveraged against them but I doubt that becomes public knowledge

Big D but who is 3rd line C
We have only had one other top 2 defensemen other than Mo play on the Leafs for the last 10 seasons - Muzzin.
Getting Skjei and Roy gives us 3. Adds to our top heavy forward group to be our best all around team. We finally have a salary cap situation that will enable us to solve for this. I like Domi, but there’s a reason he has never stuck on a team. He’s good, but much easier to replace than a top 2 d man.

Krak
If you want to pay CHI to take his contract as a pure dump, I think CHI could be interested in him as a "rehab project". But, if you are looking for a team to pay for him, it is highly unlikely it's gonna be CHI. Think along the lines of when Calgary dumped Monahan on Montreal. You pay us a 1st to assume responsibility for his contract, and if we can replace a few parts and get him running nicely again, we get to turn around and make a profit, and if we can't, at least we were compensated for the bad contract. If Seattle needs the cap space, that is how it's gonna go... unless they can dupe some poor GM into paying for damaged goods.
At his best, I love Burky and think he would be a great top 6 add. But that is a long shot at this point, and is a lot of cash to pay for nothing, if he continues being hurt constantly and playing poorly.
