you are comparing the most sheltered player in hockey who has the most team help in hockey to a player put in a position to fail, being dragged down by horrendous players and systems around him playing against other teams top players every night. of course the advanced stats will paint that picture. talent wise? not even close. and theres the fact that ristolainen is right -handed and brings physicality to the table. that was a swing and a miss. yikes

k now im not sure if you are being serious. the same jake gardiner who can't play defense and is one of the worst defenseman defensively available? that one? the leafs who are starving for defensemen clearly dont think he solves their issues. so why would another team value that guy over a guy like nick leddy. i really hope you are trolling

Who exactly are the big fish?? Leddy is a better player than all the lefty free agent defensemen. and trade-wise, who is on the block who is better? gostisbehere? he'll cost a monumental package and therefore may not be going anywhere. who else is being moved? it's actually a really small market

not really a misstep. we're talking skaters here. goalies are a totally different category. their value is extremely hard to qualify. but thats a nitpick which had nothing to do with the points being made. and proven top 4 lefty defenseman ARE in short supply.

Risto is overpaid, defensive liability and on a contract that's way heavier than what he brings on the ice. Sergachev >> Risto already and Sergy is 20, on an ELC and will cost less than Risto for a couple more years.
I really do hope you guys get to keep your <em>amazing</em> Ristolainen, I surely don't want him in Tampa</div></div>
a) I'm not a Buffalo fan. I'm a neutral party here
b) if you are so down on ristolainen why the hell would you spend time making a whole trade for him??? "I surely don't want him in Tampa". WTF??

I'm not saying Miller wouldn't be useful here. I'd give him a shot, but not at the cost of Beauvillier.</div></div>
put it this way. the isles need top 6 help. they can get that for pretty cheap in miller. they most likely will trade beau this summer bc they dont have a spot to play him. dal colle is better at the 3rd line defensive role than he is and he is clearly not a top 6 player. this isnt a marginal upgrade. Miller posted 58 and 56 points the 2 years before this one when he was given top 6 minutes. hes miles better than beauvillier

Miller for a 2nd and a prospect, that's buying low and that I would do.</div></div>
you are overvaluing beau. he hasn't shown to be a viable top 6 forward and he's not the best bottom 6 forward either due to his size. when he's not getting handfed passes by barzal he really isn't that noticeable. he's a player without a role on this team and may have the most value right now. also, the isles are swimming in cap space while the lightning have none. that's why the lightning would even consider this swap.

JT Miller for a first???? especially one in the top half of the draft?? he put up 37 points this year. he ended up on the 4th line down the stretch. AND he has a big contract. he's worth waaaaaayyyy less than a 1st. and no chance you get tage thompson for a 2nd and ryan callahans contract if you want to equate sergachev and ristolainen. both parts of that trade are hilariously one-sided for the lightning. ristolainen is more valuable than sergachev and thompson is way more valuable than callahan/2nd. the bolts will probably have to give away that 2nd just to ship out callahans contract. theyre not getting a return on that. especially a good one. when you do these deals you gotta make them make sense for both teams. remember, both teams have to agree to them

there's definitely risk. but kapanen is really good defensively and still really young. that means even if he isn't a 2nd line player he still gives good value as a 3rd liner. also, there are literally no right-shot right wingers out there in free agency. it's a hard position to find. no doubt in my mind hes worth the contract risk

Second deal I do. Not a Drouin fan but he'd be a very good fit.</div></div>
miller was playing on the 3rd and then 4th line this year. he's a 50 point player easy with a bigger role and he brings a nice physical game as well to the table. the isles have been open to trading beau all year. the lightning have to trade players away bc of major cap issues and this is a great buy-low option

no chance either johnsson or kapanen are under 4.2 mil per year. only a 2nd round compensation for an offer sheet at that range. either leafs match that and move out money or they lose one or both of them. and marner at 9.8 is ridiculous. he gets at least 10.5 he can always sign an offer sheet for leverage too. these salaries are unrealistic

Deadline trades if the Isles are clear sellers MIN BOS COL
eberle and nelson both get at least firsts if you look at the history of deadline deals for 60 point wingers and big 20 goal centers. also no chance lou is trading leddy for draft picks and also no chance the bruins want or need leddy. i would see if maybe montreal is willing to trade drouin or if Toronto is willing to give up a forward for him or something in a similar vein with a different team. remember, lou is in win now mode according to staple and when he realizes this current team has no shot he'll be looking for trades which give him young players or high end draft capital in the next year or 2. he will value young roster players over long term prospects. theyre definitely counting on bellows and hoping on wahlstrom and dobson to be nhl players as soon as next year. you can bet he'll be going after everyone in free agency too. i honestly think that he thinks that he can build a contender by next season. hope he doesnt go overboard by making bad trades or signings for the short term (like giving varlamov a massive contract)

no chance trouba is going anywhere, myers is a ufa after the year. that package is very likely a solid one to get a young top 4 right handed d-man. but again theyll have to find a different one to target. also while panarin seems likely, would be really surprised if they go after another pricey forward. also would be surprised if they would give up a first
