idk I just picked what was apparently the 10th best prospect, what prospect did you think I should put, and also bad trades exist, (trouba trade, maatta trade, gudas trade, etc.

So you're saying the Canucks should do a bad trade? Zaitsev is a cap dump. You don't get the best prospect or the 10th best prospect. Leafs need to pay to get rid of him.

Kole Lind 18 points in 57 games in AHL over last 2 years...seems like a project prospect or a possible bust but is far from a valuable asset at this current moment in time. With that being said he's only 20 so he could bounce back next year making the Canucks regret the trade if they did this trade. Tough to say but maybe keep Kole Lind and replace with a late pick or something else. Just my thoughts.

Just be happy with getting rid of Zaitsev with no retention and no cap returned. Marleau for Hossa makes senses due to the structure of Marleau's contract and the Hossa 1m not insured per year. Might be the only option the Leafs have. Don't trade Sparks without anybody to take his place and his cap doesn't hurt the Leafs at all even if he sent to the minors. I understand the Ghost trade, not that I really like it, because is Ghost what the Leaf need long term? Might have to bump up a few of those RFA $$$$. But if your Zaitsev and Marleau deals go through...it would be Christmas in LeafLand in June.

im not saying they have to make a bad trade, plus I made that trade to be equal cause I had no idea how good Lind was but it happens

Well. He's only been in Utica for 1 season. He played in Utica after his junior year was over for 6 games the previous year. Btw, in junior he had 95 points in 58 games.

As a rookie this last year, he had some injuries and he also struggled at points.

Way way too early to throw around terms like bust.

no chance either johnsson or kapanen are under 4.2 mil per year. only a 2nd round compensation for an offer sheet at that range. either leafs match that and move out money or they lose one or both of them. and marner at 9.8 is ridiculous. he gets at least 10.5 he can always sign an offer sheet for leverage too. these salaries are unrealistic

lol ur fun, 4.2 mil for players that have played beside Tavares and Matthews, also it's their first full year of hockey and they both had moments where he didn't look like themmself for long stretches. not saying they're bad, just not worth that money.

I'm not sure you understood my main point. To get anyone to trade for Zaitsev, the Leafs need to give them something (a prospect, pick....).

i would offer sheet 4.2 for kapanen in a second if im the islanders. thats a 2nd round pick for a guy who can be a really good 2nd line winger for a long time

But in the process u give kapanen 4 million and term he only scored 20 goals one season. Connor Brown did the same thing. Be careful who u overpay. Smarter play would be sign UFA's just saying. Don't overpay RFA's just to steal a player. It's just a recipe for disaster.

Nope, apparently, the leafs price is a bottom pair defender, a mid-round pick, and a prospect. I don't think they get that all that but I believe its a strategy to get Zaitsev traded without retained salary or sweetening the deal. besides, if they're that confident in that price I would imagine Detroit, Vancouver, and Edmonton are not the only ones interested.

I see Johnsson and Happy get 1-2 year deals around 2,100,000 the same as Connor Brown did when he scored 20 goals. That way if they keep up pace they can get paid the money well deserved. By whichever team weather it's leafs or other.

there's definitely risk. but kapanen is really good defensively and still really young. that means even if he isn't a 2nd line player he still gives good value as a 3rd liner. also, there are literally no right-shot right wingers out there in free agency. it's a hard position to find. no doubt in my mind hes worth the contract risk

Take gambles but Cheap gambles. You don't want to put yourself in cap trouble. It could be the islanders we talk about having cap troubles in a year or two if they don't spend wisely. Plus I don't see Lou Lammorello offer sheeting anyone. Especially since Barzal is up after next year and some teams will try to get revenge or payback. It's just not a good idea to overpay or steal players with an offer sheet. If you offer sheet go big or go home and deal with the consequences. Go for a big dog like Marner or Aho.
