Highly prefer Lindholm to Cat
I'd also much prefer Lindholm to Debrincat. Love the player; Perennial 60+ pt guy who has scored 40+ goals in a season, Selke finalist a couple years ago, one of the better two-way centers in the game in my view. The question with Lindholm is his age. His age 29-30 season would be the start of what would have to be a 7-8 year deal. By the time we become true contenders in 3-5 years, he'll be past his prime and we'll be on the hook for likely $8M or so until he's 37-38.
I think the only way I'd trade for Lindholm is if we can negotiate a sign-and-trade with a 5 year term (or less).

Red Wings Draft Board 2.0
Really would love to draft Danielson at #9. If we assume Michkov, Reinbacher and Leonard are gone by then, he's my next pick. I'd pass on Benson, and wouldn't want to take any other winger at #9 besides Leonard, who we're assuming isn't there.
Then, you pair Danielson with one of Honzek or Barlow at #17 if possible (or potentially Perreault, But or Wood). Perhaps if they really covet one of them (I think I've seen reports that they really love Honzek), maybe you try and jump to #14 by taking on Mikael Granlund's contract from Pittsburgh (or something like that).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>I just think that a top line NEEDS offense. Can't think of any toplines that aren't very good offensively and can still be considered a top line.</div></div>
I understand and agree with that need completely, but if you aren't getting Leonard, which winger are you taking at #9?
Personally wouldn't love Benson, as another small playmaker isn't what we need.
Perhaps Perreault would be solid as his hockey IQ is super high, but he is also on the smaller side and I'm not sure if he brings the scoring we need (like Benson).
Wood doesn't seem like an Yzerman pick, though he can score. I wouldn't want him at #9.
Maybe But, if you believe there is enough skill within his huge frame to score like a first-line forward. But that's no sure bet.
That leaves Barlow and Honzek, in my view. Barlow supposedly has one of the best shots in the draft, he could be that scorer we need up top. Honzek has the size, skill and all-around game (and a plus shot), perhaps he has the top-line potential. But at that point, both of those guys may be in play at #17, so do you simply ensure that you get one and "reach" for need at #9?
I just think, value-wise, you don't get players like Danielson beyond those top-ten premium picks. But you can find potentially more offensive wingers that can potentially impact a top-line around the middle of the first round. Even if he isn't considered BPA (though I'd argue he is), they still might have to consider him there because the asset value of a top-six two-way big right-handed center.

2023 Round 1
Lol... Cristall at #7? Smith after him at #8? Sale at #9?
Most egregious of all is no Ryan Leonard in the 1st round, let alone top-15???

Prediction
I would LOVE this draft for the Red Wings. Two potential top-six wingers with some grit and scoring; fits their needs desperately. Would be a tough decision between Leonard and Danielson if both are still there.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>I'd be real unamused if Detroit went with a high floor/low ceiling option considering we need a high ceiling top Left-Shot winger more than a 2C (since we have Kasper who is just a slower, much more physical Danielson)</div></div>
The more I think about it though, the more it makes sense for a Detroit team that is clearly building with defensive structure in mind above all. Responsible two-way Centers that still can produce at a top-six level are so rare, but so valuable for building that defensive structure and puck possession (which should turn into offense). Strong, extra C depth is an enviable thing, too. Who says Danielson or Kasper (or even Larkin) couldn't flex to the wing at times?
Especially if there's a chance they can still take a solid potential top-six winger like Barlow or Honzek at #17.

Connie's Claims
Isn't the question for Columbus at #3 about whether or not Smith is the long term C? From everything I've read, Carlsson is much more likely to stick as a top-6 C considering his size.
Also, I love that duo for the Red Wings, but I'd imagine they'd be flipped (Leonard at #9, Perreault at #17).

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pavelisgoat</b></div><div>I think any situation where Willander doesn’t end up in Detroit will feel a bit disappointing now after months of talking him up on CF. However, these 2 forwards would be an absolute coup for Yzerman, size and scoring it’s just what we need. Hopefully 2 of the second rounders are swings at RD then</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JoeROFLCOPTER</b></div><div>I have been on the Willander train ever since I've heard his name.
As a player, bout half way through his Rogle J20 campaign.</div></div>
The trouble with Willander is that I'm not sure he makes it to #17, considering the way his stock has been rising. At that point, do the Wings really want to leave some excellent scoring forward talent on the table, such as a Leonard, Dvorsky or even Danielson as a complete C? I vote, as a Wings fan, to take the forward.

Description for Toronto's pick of Edstrom got deleted by mistake. Edstrom is a name I've seen as high as the mid-teens in some mocks. He's a big, reliable two-way C that could easily project into the middle-six. Good value at #28.
