Highly prefer Lindholm to Cat

Description
Not saying I want Detroit to make this trade or expect it to be the value. But much happier if we were to trade 17 oa that it be for a guy like Lindholm, so long as we can get an extension later on

I mean if everything is equal I’d rather have Lindholm too. My guess is he will cost more than Cat

would you be willing to give him an 8 x $8.5M extension?

I'm not a Lindholm guy, I think he's been elevated by his wings in his real productive seasons. I'm not paying that much for him or extending him for what he'd cost. If the cost is more reasonable then sure.

I'd also much prefer Lindholm to Debrincat. Love the player; Perennial 60+ pt guy who has scored 40+ goals in a season, Selke finalist a couple years ago, one of the better two-way centers in the game in my view. The question with Lindholm is his age. His age 29-30 season would be the start of what would have to be a 7-8 year deal. By the time we become true contenders in 3-5 years, he'll be past his prime and we'll be on the hook for likely $8M or so until he's 37-38.

I think the only way I'd trade for Lindholm is if we can negotiate a sign-and-trade with a 5 year term (or less).
