LE dump isn't a 1st, Pilut isn't a solid prospect he's 25 and still in KHL. Brock Boeser has a better shot than Sam yet he also hasn't hit 30 goals. No that trade isn't fair value. If that's too much to give then it's most definitely too much from Vancouver

On pace and actually are 2 different things, he's broken 50 points once in his career and never more than 25 goals. No team is giving Buffalo 2 first round picks

His d game isnt that great, Elder's is better and be a better fit on a yr or 2 term and cost less in salary. Pitts would probably move Pettersson just for Holtby to be rid of that contract.

The only thing that is good and could happen is Miller to Seattle.
Vancouver won't do that trade ever, Not enough back for Risto.
Kings I don't think are a good fit for a trade for Eichel as I think that is not enough but I don't see LA giving up more of that.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sporkknife</b></div><div>Well, we can agree to disagree on the value but I agree the trade doesn't happen nonetheless. And yeah, I certainly don't think Staal was good, he was especially awful in NY, but like you said, he at least offered veteran insulation on the blue line. Eriksson offers an expensive cap hit and that's it.
I've seen the 9OA for Sam straight up and I think that is much more realistic. Depends if Buffalo wants to ice an NHL or an AHL team next year. IDK</div></div>
Eriksson to Buffalo doesn't make sense unless they aren't trying to compete next year, the owner wants to be like Melnyk and save some money for a year as LE 6mil avv will be 3mil in real money, uses up a player slot they'd otherwise have to fill and he'll help them to another shot at the 1oa pick next year which is what I'd want if I was them.
I've seen 7oa for Sam but either way I wouldn't do that straight up, and I like Reinhart as a player but he isn't anything better than Miller. Well I shouldn't say I wouldn't, if Clarke, Eklund, Hughes, Guenther, Johnson, Beniers are all gone then I'd consider it as long as they took Roussel too

next year
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sporkknife</b></div><div>Look, guys, I would love for this to happen. I really would. I'm just trying to temper expectations here a bit.
Marc Staal played top pairing minutes for Detroit and was actually not that terrible, and Detroit got a 2nd rounder for that. Loui on the other hand, while he was once a great player, is not really capable of playing NHL games anymore. You could see this year when 10 regulars were out, Loui did not play. That is incredibly damning. Hopefully, Loui gets tired of sitting on the bus in Abbotsford, collects his bonus, retires, and heads to Sweden for some Prinsesstårta. We cannot assume that is likely, however. I would brave Abby for a year for $4 million, and I think just about anyone would.</div></div>
This trade would not happen in the real world, because Buffalo would get a better offer maybe not that high a pick but better player(s) for sure and maybe a late pick too. As to Staal he played like garbage the last several years for the Rangers and not that many minutes as he did last year. The reason Staal played as much was Detroit isn't competing, they didnt really have anyone else, plus they used Staal as more a vet presence and a guy that could be learned from by the younger players. As to the OP value is fair but having said that this trade never happens.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sporkknife</b></div><div>While that would be nice, unfortunately the value on that Reinhart trade doesn't add up. Dumping Eriksson costs a first in and of itself, possibly more in the flat cap era, so you're essentially asking Buffalo to give up a 1st liner for a 3rd.</div></div>
While giving up a low 1st to dump 6.75 million of avv and real money to be bought out is an outlier and something only a Toronto GM would do, as no other will. The value is close o what Detroit got last year for a very similar avv and real money which was they got a 2nd round pick.
Or we could choose what Ottawa gave up to get a player with a higher avv but lower real money which was also a 2nd round pick.
OP proposal is fair value for all parties

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonnymc26</b></div><div>i see you have a #2 overall pick with a 40 goal pace in full season, looks to be going into prime too. best i can do is late first rounder and chip in a 3rd so you feel better.</div></div>
Maybe the 3 round pick #79 of that 2014 draft is more to your liking. I'm sure you can get him 1 for 1.
Or Philly can give you their 2 OA player picked in 2017 draft who is 3 years younger.
Or the Canucks can give you 2 RDs Rafferty (82 point pace) and Bowey (41 point pace).
Reinhart is good but he has yet to score more than 25 goals and only had more than 50 points once in his career. Pace per year or where a player was drafted has little bearing in a players perceived worth to other nhl clubs. Body of work does. And this perceived goal pace for this year is more an outlier than the norm. So yes what I said is more his value as he fits the need more to a playoff team or one that has a high chance to make the playoffs, than to a none playoff team. Reinhart isn't getting a guaranteed top 10 pick, least of a top 10 pick plus a player recently drafted 10 oa who is in the top 20 best players not currently in the NHL. The Canucks aren't desperate to dump Loui for that

LA does not do that deal either.
Reinhart is good but he isn't getting a top 10 pick in this environment. Maybe a late teens early 20s plus a B prospect or 3rd and C prospect

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>It doesn’t say they are prorated so until they do I will assume
The 40-70 that the nhl website posted is still accurate and they posted the rules April 30th 2021 on their website
There is no way they go 4-4 and saying losing jost nuke or kadri isn’t a big lose, you haven’t watched enough avs then</div></div>
here is the link, on the right side a bit down, incase you don't want to read i've also copied it from this link
https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/nine-teams-interesting-decisions-make-ahead-seattle-expansion-draft/
Overview of Seattle expansion draft rules
• Teams can protect eight skaters and a goalie, or seven forwards, three defencemen and a goalie.
• Players with no-movement clauses must automatically be protected unless they waive that clause.
• Seattle must select one player from each roster, except exempt Vegas. The Kraken have to select a minimum of 14 forwards, nine defencemen and three goalies, and 20 total players under contract for next season.
• If the Kraken sign an unprotected pending UFA during their exclusive negotiating window, that player will count as the selection off his former team's roster.
• All first- and second-year professionals, and all unsigned draft choices, will be exempt from selection
• Teams must meet the following requirements for exposed players: one defencemen under contract for 2021-22 who played 27 or more games this season or played a minimum of 54 total in the past two seasons; two forwards under contract for next season who meet those same games played levels; one goalie under contract for next season or who will be an RFA this off-season.
• Players with potential career-ending injuries who have missed more than the previous 60 consecutive games (or who otherwise have been confirmed to have a career-threatening injury) may not be used to satisfy a team's player exposure requirement unless approval is received from the NHL. These players may be exempt from selection.

I've read that somewhere a while back, I'll have to find that, if not then yea Graves will be exposed. I do watch them and if what I mentioned is true Graves is a bigger loss then any of those 4 Fs even with Byram in the fold. Kadri is the most important piece of them but he's got 1 yr left and the Avs are still dominating without him and the others are replaced by players internally or by a Ufa signing. If what I say is true if the Avs go 4, 4 then I'm sure Kraken will take either Jost or Compher and more likely Jost. The Avs will still be a force with any of those 4 fs gone

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>coga16</b></div><div>Based on what was posted on the NHLs website graves is the only dman under contract that would meet the exposure requirements of game played. Johnson or Macdonald wouldn’t have the games played.
They aren’t moving for futures; they can’t avoid losing someone good off their roster. Graves, donskoi, whoever...Seattle takes 1 and avs move on. Trading graves only means means they now are losing 2 good players bc someone still has to be picked</div></div>
I don't see a trade like this happening either, but not for that reason. I think both EJ and MacDonald do qualify for XD. the rule is a F or D has to have played 40 games the last season or 70 the previous two season. However these past two seasons, due to this pandemic, have been shortened so its less games, MacDonald played 33 games this year over half the season so he qualifies. EJ like wise has played 63 regular season games these past 2 years and that's not including his 9 playoff games last year. So they both have passed the threshold. I think EJ will waive his no movement and if the Avs don't re-sign landy or Grub before the XD I can see them going 4f, 4d and losing one of their F's (Kadri/Compher), Donskoi, Nich or Jost. Honestly anyone of them is no big loss.

Too much for Connor Murphy and not the right fit. Too little for Klingerg as he his the perfect fit for many teams. Too much for Palat and in this scenario not needed,he's not better than Rakell and may not be better than a 2nd year Podkolzin
Aside from Murphy and Palat I'd like this team

I don't see TB doing that, I see them protecting 4f 4d. The precieved cap crunch isn't that difficult for them to get out of I think. This ED draft is actually good for them, at worst they will get value to move out one of Killorn or Palat if need be.
Patrick will fetch a 2nd round pick at worst, unfortunately Virtanen isn't worth a 2nd maybe a 3rd. Schmidt is better than Gostisbehere but not a JV for NP
