<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CD282</b></div><div>Why do you hate draft picks?
Oh, and that Nurse trade is ridiculous.</div></div>
your right, it was late last night and I thought i had more on it, no excuse for the nurse trade haha wanted to dump cap and get a 5/6 LD in the process but just not enough coming the oilers way for sure. and i def don't hate draft picks but in this scenario the oilers are tired of wasting draft picks in a bad system and opted to sacrifice some prospect depth for a couple years to get proven players that fit what is needed now and not 3 years down the road.

You're not getting him for Larrson (mediocre top 4) Pulj (whos a bust rn) Bear (unproven, non-NHL ready prospect), a 25 yr old 15 nhl games EXP whos probably never going to stick, and picks...
STL ask for Draisaitl</div></div>
Considering Parayko had 8 more points then Larrson for 1.4 million more i would think there is merrit to the swap considering st louis has a log jam of defense-man, obviously larrsson is not as good as parayko but a combination of the prospects, picks and larsson are a starting point, im sure id have to sweeten it but its not as bad of a deal as your making it out to be on the surface, yes parayko played great in the playoffs but does st louis get to the final again? if they don't maneuver the cap properly they may have to blow it up after next year.

with that being said vatanen was not a must for me and if we kept larsson i wouldn't be opposed ya know, just a little shake up on the back end with true right handed dman that can produce is needed.

I wouldn't say it doesn't make sense, i truly think larsson hit his ceiling the year we went to the 2nd round and its just going to be regression/no progression since. I think vatanen would provide much more offense but I def like the adjustments made, buch was a wishful target however i don't think buch is as good as everyone thinks so im fine not having to send picks and still getting useful pieces back.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Phoneyanteater123</b></div><div>Devils won't take Larsson back. They need a LD not a RD and Vatanen is able to play on the left side.</div></div>
I overlooked the lack of a LD on devils roster for sure, my thoughts as a long time oiler is we are in desperate need for offense from the defense and vatanen (while having a couple bad years) is a better offensive option then larsson and if shattenkirk falters, gets injured and etc then having another offensive rd to move around actually provides a great deal of flexibility. now with that being said maybe they take russell and a bit better package to make the deal instead of russel and then larsson goes to rangers instead of russell. I watched vatanen quite a bit with the ducks and think new jersey just isnt the right fit for him, with our core i think he could see a great improvement in points.

Solution 1
Its def a wild one but they are in such a cap crunch and truly wont contend whether they think so or not and they desperately need to free up cap while acquiring prospects and picks, buch is def a solid piece at a good price but i mean he is not a super proven payer so there is a risk of regression, it might take a conditional firs trounder to make the buch trade but i mean gagner was on pace for around 7 or 8 less pts then buch and he can play all over the line up so i think their is merit but def understand what your saying, i will be commenting on your response to solution 1 as well.

making money moves
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>I agree with them having to do something to improve but you're dreaming if you think Kreider would resign in Edmonton, you're just throwing away a 1st and Pulujarvi's potential for one season of Kreider and two seasons of Shattenkirk, it's not worth it.
The Puljujarvi,2nd,Bear for Buchnevich trade idea that's been thrown around on here is one that has merit for the Oilers.</div></div>
Well i mean i was making these moved with the notion that krieder would resign with the oil or of course i would nevwr make the trade. to say he wouldn’t is baseless, he would have probably some of the best opportunity in edmonton as a winger and on power play, money talks and so does opportunity so none of us can say he would or wouldn’t, as for the trade, no gm would make that trade without talking to kreider to gauge his interest and etc and fulfill the proper due dilligence needed

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>WalterT</b></div><div>If you break it down to three separate trades you could say 1) Kreider for a first and a second, which favors the Rangers a bit and B) Shattenkirk with some retention for Russell, which is pretty fair and iii) Puljujarvi, Granlund, Laggesson and a fifth for nothing.
The Rangers say yes.</div></div>
I would think that jp and russell together would still be needed to get shattenkirk, but you are pretty close on my thoughts, granlund is a cap dump to balance things out and can be replaced internally and lagesson is middle of the pack chance to be a roster player.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MisstheWhalers</b></div><div>That Rangers trade is bad for the Oilers in the long run.</div></div>
Long run its for sure alot of pieces to give up for the oil but at a certain pount proven commodities are extremely meccessary to break out of this hell hole of. Decade. Jesse has potential but kreider is better for the next 4 or 5 years then i think jp will be, shattenkirk is a flyer for sure could be washed up but as of right now he would be considered the closest thing to an elite dman we have, i feel like his points would
Increase by 15 wasily on the pp and throwing passes to our two top lines. Prospects can be restocked but we need to get a few players that are good and experiences, not ones at the end of their careers.
Please excuse my errors, i have a giant crack down my phone screan that gets the best of me

shaking it up
1) the trade opens up 750,000 in cap space and turns into a 3rd round draft pick if he resigns, vegas will not be resigning eakins and he had one 20 goal season, him and gagner are similar age and similar point totals, gagner got moved around last year and had 13 pts in 32 games which works out to 33 pts over 82 games so 750,000 less cap, not having to worry about resigning and a 3rd round pick if he signs with oilers which there is a high chance he would is def not horrible at all.
2) batherson is a solid prospect and your point could totally be valid but they have a lack of veterans in the bottom six and a vet who wins draws is a ufa next year and a 3rd round pick (batherson was a 4th) is not crazy far off if the gm was a good salesman, maybe oil would need to compliment brodziak with another prospect that isn't in our plans but i wouldn't say this is way off
3) the wild have been trying to get rid of zucker for months and spurgeon is an older dman on a ufa contract who i don't think will resign in minny, i will give you the quality over quantity for sure but the addition of a conditional 1st round and a 3rd rounder as well as 2 roster dman with short term commitments, a tough roster right winger who had a good season and 15 goals last year and a former 4th overall pick who has potential (i am not sure about jp myself but there is still interest in him) and then archibald scored 12 goals last year is a solid special teams player and can be buried in minors or let walk at end of season. Minny also decreases their cap hit with this trade
4) this is far from a wash, a conditional second round pick if an rfa resigns is not the same as a lower end prospect and djoos just went thru arbitratio, he is a def a better dman then manning but hes not better then manning and a 2nd rd draft pick

Which is fair and i think would still be in Oilers interest as i don’t think marody is a shoe in for long term plans, 50/50, gagner being a ufa after the one year helps as the rangers dont have to commit his 3 mill after the years over

I found out how and just adjusted the trade, i forgot de angelo dropped 30 pts last year, i left it as just krieder and conditional picks, take a look and let me know what you think!

Fair enough, after i submitted it i was like that is off, i thought i had a 2nd rd not a 3rd however kreider is a UFA and rangers aren't planning on keeping him, they are in rebuild mode so gagner is 1.7 mil cheaper and allows them room, gambardella is is a solid prospect right now
And malone is a great ahl vet to have, de angelo is an rfa so its only his rights he hasn’t lived up to the hype yet so im meh on him, however its probably a 2nd and a 3rd and maybe a better prospect then malone to balance out de angelo, there is no way kreider is worth a 1st as a ufa, not sure how to redo a trade
