Yeah it does which is the only way they'd part with a pick like that.

As much as I’d like to say that Ristolinen has been pretty good about completely changing his game and becoming a hard hitting dman, and is not the cap dump he was, PHI would have to take that in a second

Leafs Preds and Kings blockbuster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>HollywoodHudon</b></div><div>Nylander is a luxury at this point in the Leaf's attempts to win a cup. He will be looking for $10m per year or more on his next deal - Leafs would be better off having Josi, a perennial all-star D man at $9m than a luxury $10m+ winger. Signing older UFAs like Kane/Tarasenko/Bertuzzi for $6m or less short term to replace Nylander is much more palatable for the Leaf's cap, and having that veteran leadership can certainly be a good mix with the young players like Knies/Minten/Voit and/or Byfield/Vilardi if acquired.</div></div>
First, literally ZERO chance Leafs move Nylander. Second - no team is going to give up a top 5 league wide dman in his prime for Willy one year from FA. Come on, SMH.
And can’t see the Kings moving their future #1centre; like seriously?!
And then to put a cherry on this pile - you traded Brodie for picks.
Outrageous

I mean, he's pretty much a 20+ goal lock and has really played well dating back to AV being fired. I'm not expecting much, but I think a 3rd is fair

The interesting things about opinions is that they're subjective, and a good chunk of your fellow Leafs fans don't necessarily see things the same way.

There is so little logic to this trade you might as well throw in the deed to the cn tower</div></div>
Maaaan, so close. I was all ready to give this an enthusiastic like until... you guys need to realize that something does not become a fact just because you repeat it over and over again. Parayko is not overpriced, and saying he's not any good is just an admission you don't watch him play. Just wildly exaggerated if not downright false on both counts.

what do they need
Parayko has been regressing the past seasons and is overpaid. Bruins are in great shape with McAvoy-Clifton-Carlo. They need to add a top9 F and possibly improve the 4th line.

Whatever they need, it’s definitely not what you said. Carlo fits perfectly into the top four. If the top four is to be tinkered with, some more size rather than grzelcyk is the only argument to be made, but I don’t think that’s a good move either.
Big physical RW to play in the bottom six might help depth.
They’re good. Really don’t need much if healthy.

Agree - bottom 6 forward for this playoff run. Potential targets: Acciari, Tierney, Bjustad, Sturm, and Blackwell.
Parayko would be a nice get, but it would mean giving up Carlo (getting Older at D) and being tighter to the cap. I don't think its necessary.
Trade Reilly to clear cap space in the offseason and let Smith walk.
Extend:
- Bergy (Bring him back next year on a similar contract; low cap hit with bonuses up to $5M in total value)
- Pasta (Give him whatever he wants at this point - anything less than $11M will be a discount).
- Clifton (Give him a deal around $3M AAV)
- Frederic (Bridge deal at around $2M AAV)
- Zacha (4 years at $4M AAV)
- QOs for McLauglin, Lauko, Swayman, and pretty much all of our other RFAs with any value
Projected Lines Next Year:
Marchand-Bergy-Debrusk
Hall-Zacha-Pasta
Frederic-Coyle-Lysell
Lauko-McLaughlin-Beecher
Grz-McAvoy
Lindholm-Carlo
Forbort-Clifton
Tough decision might be coming though with Grz... he could become a cap casualty. I think Clifton has been better than Grz this season and would rather extend him.

Cap space
Bottom 6 FW that plays a heavy game and chips in some offense.
Long term, young top 6 center

Notwithstanding you're over cap.......
I see that as an overpay. Buchnevich is great, don't get me wrong, and O'Reilly is the kind of 200 foot player I would target..... but for 3 really good prospects and a pair of 1sts? Ouff.
More harm than good imo.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Isles10</b></div><div>Yeah but he's got 5yrs left on a contract that was until 1/4 of this season regarded as completely untradeable - Firkus is a good prospect and 3 picks for a rebuilding team are great. And what's the point of having an elite defenseman for maybe all of this year and maybe next year on this particular team... makes no sense. The sharks would be better off trading him this season before they once again are 'stuck' with an untradeable contract at 11.5 M for 3-4 years.</div></div>
I think a first would be necessary to acquire a norris caliber defenseman, + with the cap starting to rise again the contract is going to look better and better. It is also reasonable to assume on a better team Karlsson would be even better than on a team with 3 real forwards. Add in the fact that donskoi & dreiger are basically cap dumps and a first would be a minimum. Firkus is a real nice prospect tho

Another Durzi trade
Jake Evans and Wideman are assets that have no interest to LA at all.
First off, the Kings have plenty of young forwards they are trying to break into the roster. They don't need to add 1.7mil cap on Jake Evans to that mix
On top of that, the reason LA would be comfortable trading Durzi is because of our excess of RD. We wouldn't want to bring one back in. Wideman does nothing for us and likely falls behind even Spence in the depth chart.
No thanks from LA, though it is nice to see something with a 1st in it. Even if it is a late 1st.
