Rangers 22-23
I don't think the Hawks accept that. Zac Jones doesn't offer anything more then they already have in young players or prospects; they have a logjam of LHD prospects and young players that are 2nd or 3rd liners...it's the one position of strength. Kravtsov certainly isn't moving the needle and neither is the late 2nd plus taking on Nemeth.
Nemeth, KK, and a 2nd may get it done or Nemeth, 1st and 2nd

I think Strome and NYR will end up settling on a one year arbitration. If he performs well again you could extend further on, or at the very worst (which isn't really that bad lol) trade him for a return similar to Pageau.

Idk if it'd be wise to give Strome that long of deal, after a major career way playing beside Panarin ( I think). I'd give him like a one year prove it deal.

Finishing an Incredible Offseason

Only two of them will get solid 2C/3C minutes which is why I figured you package one with a 2nd for Gusev who could be a scoring machine.
Same mentality with Lindgren as he will be buried on the depth chart unless a few people get hurt. So if losing him clears all of Smith's contract for the next two years, it might be worth it</div></div>
I agree on both points. Not that I would necessarily make the same trade, but if I had to trade 1 of our 3 young centers at this point, it would be Andersson.
As for Lindgren, with Skjei figuring to be here long term and assuming Miller reaches top-4 level, we have 1 spot on the left side undecided. Kids fighting for that job will be Lindgren/Hajek/Rykov/Reunanen/Robertson/etc. I can see Skjei being traded down the line if the kids start to outplay him, but that's still just 2 spots open on LD for all these promising kids. If I had to choose 1 young LD to be included in a trade, it'd be Lindgren.

By the time we have guys coming into their prime he will be on the decline. I've sold myself to believe its better off to not get him, there will be other big name FA's when the time is right. If we do I wont be too mad though lol.

NY Rangers trade up into the top 5
Kreider and Namestnikov are pending UFAs, (Namestnikov being an over paid 3rd line player that can have a similar to better player picked up in UFA at his cap hit)....plus 2 very late picks
I don't see any must have value here for the 4th overall. Its just a collection of stuff to be honest. Give some real long term value to the Avs then they might be interested in this.
Avs are better off drafting at 4 and experience the development and growth of said player on an ELC then having to over pay to keep Kreider and wait 3-4 years to see if those draft picks pan out
If its deal that is build around a guy like Buchnevich being included, then you might have a better chance at getting 4th

The Avalanche hang up. We will take probably our last top 5 choice for a long time.. A lot of our guys will be up for extension soon. So to have another top notch blue chipper on an ELC will be huge for this team. Only way we trade it if its bringing us back a star player that is under 25 years old that is also part of a bigger deal

I just think the players available at 4 are too good to trade out of that spot. Swap out Namestikov for a young player like Andersson or Howden might help.

If Dallas' pick elevates from a second to a first, then by definition that pick drops to #28 or further, depending upon how they do in the semifinals and finals, so I don't think this comes anywhere close to sufficient compensation to Colorado for leaving the #4 slot.

They wouldn't trade Georgiev until the Deadline.
A) to beef up his stock, which has already risen pretty well.
B) while Shestyorkin is the future, he may need some seasoning down at Hartford first. Not going to move Georgiev until you know Shestyorkin is definitely ready.
So if they are expecting his stock to rise by the Deadline, he could probably get a 2nd and/or a decent Prospect by himself.
Kreider a 1st and a Prospect. Pionk a 2nd or 3rd. So as intriguing as Puljujarvi is, would probably get more for that package.

and I'm guessing you thought Matthews was going to sign for 8x10. You can laugh all you want, but if you think what a player will get in UFA is based on what they are worth, instead of what a team will give him, I kinda have to ask where you've been the last 10 years. He might get less if it's in a tax free market, but ya, for panarin to go to new york, it's definitely between 10-11 million.
Also, research? What research? Should I type into google, "crystal ball that will tell me what future UFAs will get in the NHL?"

Kravtsov is a LW, not really a center. He shifted their for WJC and did well, but his natural position is LW.
With having Kakko, Kravtsov, and Buchnevich all preferring RW as left handed shots, I wouldn't sign Skinner, another left handed shot.
I also don't think that Strome should be the initial second line center. Give that to Chytil and let him lose it if he underperforms. Honestly this is probably what we should address after Panarin and RHD as we don't really have a 2nd line center
Our preference should be to obtain another right handed shot, both on offense and defense (we need to get rid of shattenkirk, he isn't a top pairing guy)
If we would be able to get rid of half of his cap, we could use the money spent on skinner to make a run for Karlsson (might be a mistake); however, I would prefer packaging Pionk with a pick and/or another player for a better RHD (my wishlist is trouba).
Rykov has played over 20 minutes per game in the KHL, I think he'll be ready for 2nd pairing on the left side (although he can play both).
Kreider should be traded-- he already said he wouldn't report without an extension in place and well, him not playing lowers his stock even more than him playing through his injury.
If we were to:
Sign Panarin
Trade for Trouba (and sign at 7.25)
Sign Duchene (worst case go back for Hayes on another short term deal, say 6.5m for 2 years)
Get rid of Shattenkirk & Smith (we could package smith with vesey and take a lesser pick), buyout Staal
Panarin-Zibanejad-Kakko
Chytil-Duchene-Kravtsov
Lemieux-Strome-Buchnevich
Andersson-Howden- (**) **I would target Ho-Sang, Dal Colle, Duclair, Puljujarvi or another player thats boom or bust, wouldn't cost much in terms of trade or offer sheet**
Skjei-Trouba
Rykov-DeAngelo
(Hajek or Lindgren)-Fox
