Looking at the last few years, Cammy has been producing at about a 0.72 pts/gm pace while Hossa has been producing at a pace of about 0.70 pts/gm. So their average offensive production is roughly the same. Cammy is also 34 years old and is signed for 3 more years for $5m per year while Hossa is 37 and is signed for <strong>5</strong> more years at $5.275m per year. On top of that, you're looking to upgrade your 6th round pick to our 4th round? Devils would definitely decline this trade if only for the sake of not tying up $5m+ of salary for an additional 2 years for a player older than the one they're giving away who doesn't offer much more in terms of production.</i></div></div>

It is fair in both ways, because Hossa fits New Jersey's Defensive Style of Play... Cammaleri just needs a true #1 C to play with in order to achieve a productive year</i></div></div>

No it is not. Devils do <strong>NOT</strong> want a 37 year old forward for another 5 years with a higher cap hit than Cammy, regardless of play style. If anything, New Jersey is looking to get younger or shed high cap hit contracts for older players. If Cammy was traded, it wouldn't be for an older player being paid more money for a longer period of time and turning their 4th round pick into a 6th.
