To lure Stephenson out of Vegas? Will probably take about that much. Kadri's a close enough comparable -- Kadri is better, but a contract with term, as the cap goes up, for a 2/3C
Zadorov is a proven second pairing guy, can move the puck and is also tall. Plus, he has history with Tre. For 6'6" D-man with $5 mill as the cap goes up, it's not bad.

No matter what Shanny tells Marner on locker clean out exit conversation, Marner says no thank and the story ends. You can't force a player to waive his contract clause.
Ask Arz what they did when they wanted EOL to go away when he too had a NMC, he said no and ARZ had to buy him out.</div></div>
Yeah, he's not leaving. He's a hometown kid, on an expiring deal who can sit on his NMC and walk away next summer. It's not in his interest

Not sure why the Leafs would want Seattle to retain, McCann has four more years on his contract. SEA would definitely not want to retain salary for that long + the Leafs don't necessarily need it either. It also complicates Seattle's cap situation.

AFAIK McCann had strong feelings about his time in Vancouver, not Toronto. By all accounts he was on good terms with Dubas and Keefe and states that he was excited to be a Leaf in the Hockey News article below.

They probably do need to add more but idk about another first. McCann popped off this year, but Willy has been much more consistent in his production + he's way more lethal on the PP than McCann. Especially if Willy agrees to a sign-and-trade, I think the value's close. And despite what everyone says, Willy has more postseason experience and has proven that he can produce/drive play in the playoffs.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CameronSquires</b></div><div>I love McCann as a player but I have a hard time thinking the Leafs would retain anything on Nylander, and I'm not sure SEA would be willing to let him go seeing he's still got 4 years at 5M.
I don't know enough about Carlo's value to comment on the second trade, but from what I have seen I don't believe the Bruins would do that</div></div>
TOR would probably have to sweeten the deal and SEA would probably want assurances that Nylander would stick around, but I think McCann is one of the few players that can produce like Nylander can, with some PK upside, with a manageable cap hit. I don't know if the leafs would have a problem retaining on just one year left, I did have to make the Carlo trade in order to make that all work.

Peeke's probably too high in this line-up, preferably you'd have him second pair and either bump up McCabe or Lili and hope he has a solid year. Also don't know if Rifai is NHL-ready, probably more of a call-up option in case of temporary injuries. I think you'd need a better 7th D.

FA Signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Hammerwise</b></div><div>Nicely rationalized. Reaves coming up and down (and probably going unclaimed easily based on that deal) is something I just cant see, and something the team cant afford with the cap, ideally the team stays healthy and theres no cap space for him ever to get called up. But realistically if somebody goes IR for 1-10 games then you're capped and he cant come up. I just cant see signing him/wanting him for 3 years and then just placing him in minors, seems ridiculous. Its a pretty thin team and benoit, gregor arent really quality depth guys. I'd rather see kids in there.
The leafs will have to find a way to get 19 skaters with reaves in lineup</div></div>
Fair enough, just trying to cope with that contract lol. I wonder if it's a Simmonds-type situation from this year, where he gets sent down but doesn't play for the Marlies and just sticks around the locker room. Ideally I agree with you, and would want Robertson/Steeves to take that next step and get into the line-up, but I'm skeptical that will happen. Also wanted to avoid moving Brodie. If there are IR injuries though this team is screwed...

Also Lafferty's contract is buriable (I believe) if you don't want to trade him and keep him as an option.

FA Signings
I think Reaves could be sent down pretty easily without any kind of risk of him being claimed, don't think you want him playing every game of the season. But I agree Steeves/Robertson could fill into McMann's slot, just put him in there cause he's not waivers exempt. If you're sending Reaves up and down I think Gregor's a good guy that's producing close to/above where Reaves is at (he had more points and close to the same number of hits in fewer games than Reaves).
Could move Domi to the third line and move Knies/Robertson up to the second line to give Knies more space and to have a passer for Jarnkrok's shooting on the 3rd line.
I just signed Bear to half of his last contract cause he's not expected to come in until partway through the season. I still think Gio is a good Dman, just needs more rest during the regular season ahead of the playoffs.
