2017-18 flames roster
I think you need to do a little research (thinking) before posting something like this.
Flames just traded for Mike Smith, so why would they turn around and trade him back to the exact same team? Not gonna happen.
Ben Bishop has made it very very clear he doesn't want to play in Calgary. That's why the Flames went out and traded for Smith. So again, not gonna happen.
Never going to trade 2/3 of arguably your best line from a year ago. Besides, just getting Connor Brown is no where close to enough return in that trade.
Highly doubt there is any chance of Chris Neil leaving OTT. If he doesn't sign there, he likely doesn't sign anywhere. And honestly we don't need him.
Sorry bud, but this scenario simply will never happen, not even in anyones dreams, except your own. Thankfully you can't give out negative stars, because you'd be getting negative 20 stars.

Do we need to have a seat at 2018 draft yes
I definitely agree with the idea of moving one of our goalie prospects in the direction of Dallas and maximizing the return.
Once Bishop gets hurt yet again and throws their whole season into turmoil, they'll thank us for giving them a bonafide future starting goalie.

JH to the sens one year later (Feeding off MonyMony Brilliance)
I wonder how far a team like this could go in the playoffs.

If you watch JH play over the last 3 years you might notice... He is weak - not small - weak - seriously - hockey players are warriors - puck to the face - few stitches and lets go! But JH gets a slash and he is wagging his hand like he is in a parade! Sorry amazingly talented but weak and easy to push off the puck - just look at his give away's! Also Calgary has 3-4 small players on their way up that are really good. Lets be fair - a small player is ok - 1 maybe 2 but there is a limit - JH is small and weak - Mangi may be small but he will kick your ass tough! JH on the top line is like Camilary - a minus player - scores lots but is a defensive liability! I will trade a 60-80 point -10 player for a 40-50 + 20 player any day!</div></div>
^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^ As a diehard Flames fan I feel like I have to whisper the fact that I think Johnny needs to go while we can still get a decent return for him.
Another less than good year, like he had last season and he becomes pointless to us as a trade option. Just 6.75mil we'll never get rid of.

October 2017
I'd love to get Engelland back, but considering he lives in Vegas I can't see him wanting to move again.
Can basically play out his final 1-2 yrs in his back yard. And being a Vegas local, he's a HUGE marketing tool for the team long term.
I'm not crapping on this in any way. I really wanted Derek to stay here. That guy was more important for us than many probably know last year.

I'd rather see what Jankowski can do at the NHL level who's rights we still hold for years rather than ship him, prospects and picks away for a player who can leave in 1 year.

Gaudreau to PHI v1
Calgary fan: I'll take that trade any day and twice on Sunday. I love watching Johnny play and his skill set is really off the charts. However.... although size (Bure, St. Louis, Fluery, etc etc.) isn't always going to keep you from being an elite player, Johnny is not strong on the puck or in the corners, gets knocked off the puck and extremely frustrated when being bullied and roughed up...a bit of a baby really when you watch closely his reactions, I hate watching professional sports personalities act like a 12 year old when making 5 mill plus. He has commented several times since his last year in college his dreams and aspirations of playing in his hometown or close to. To keep up and get past the Kings, Stars and Ducks, the Flames are just not big and tough enough. There is lots of skill and speed and our D is going to kill it this year making Smith have one of the better season he has had. I would take Simmons size, grit and scoring ability (should have another 4-5 good years in him) Konecny's skill, vision and potential to grow bigger (only 20), both right hand shots any day. As for losing Kylington, he has now been bumped down the charts by Andersson and I think Valimaki, potentially Healey as well, I am ok with losing him, good depth for us right now moving forward with these and Kulak ( not to mention one of the best top 4 defensive starting cores in the league now).
Remember we got Johnny in the very late rounds and to get two players of these calibers AND a first round pick in a deep looking draft next year....send it over I'll sign it says Treliving.

Calgary Moves before UFA season
If you consider F.Hamilton's contract mistake (assume he meant 750,000) plus the depth players he made he will be a lot closer, it is hard to look at though the cap implications when they have everyone up on the roster, CAL has a big of a squeeze this year as Giordano, Monahan and Gaudreau all have their new contracts kicking in while still having bad contracts of Eygland, Stajan, Raymond and Smid
