after the cup
I like the team. The third paring might be a problem. The trades are reasonable enough that both sides would question the value. Perhaps the target teams change based on need.
I don’t know anything about Poulin so can’t really comment on that one.

In years past I would’ve said that PIT could use Wood’s services, but with DOC’s emergence, he has taken a firm grasp on the 3rd line LW role. When taking into account the desired influx of youth, and the probable acquiring / signing of a Guentzel replacement, there isn’t any room for Wood in PIT.
If COL wants to deal him, TOR would make sense, as well as a possible reunion with NJD imo.

Controversial trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Maniaked</b></div><div>We have a good center depth because of Cirelli. Stamkos does not play at center anymore because he lacks defensively, Paul is good as a 3rd line center, but I can't really see him higher. Also, Cirelli has great term on his contract, trading him for Andersson who has 2 years left makes no sens. We also have Sergachev coming back, this will be a big improvement on the defence. The defence is still an issue, but we don't need to create a center issue to fix it.</div></div>
Yes, because Sergachev is great on defense...Serg coming back isn't fixing any deficiencies in their own end, as he still makes far too many dumb mistakes to be paid what he's paid. He brings a good amount of offense, but since he won't be on PP1, it even somewhat limits that ceiling.
As far as term, by the time Anderson would be due a new deal, the cap is going to.likely be near 100 million, so extending him wouldn't be the issue. Again, Tampa can roll.a very good center package of Point-Stamkos-Paul, and if they really felt Stamkos couldn't play 2C, they could focus on adding another 2C/3C tweener with the cap savings to play with Hagel and Stamkos.
If Tampa's management thinks they are winning a Cup with a right side of Cernak, Raddysh, and Perbix, they're smoking some good stuff. The best dman they can probabaly afford with the space they'd have might be Chatfield if he makes it to ufa. Carrier would also be excellent, but since Tampa's staff is incapable of thinking a dman under 6' and 200 pounds can be effective, he's likely out.
Ultimately, while Cirelli does play good defense, Tampa's overall team defense is in decline. The last time Tampa won a Cup they had an amazing defensive top 4, and the only way they are going to be able to get another is by letting Stamkos walk, trading a larger F contract, or sacrificing at another top 6 F position(the Duclair or similar player spot(), to then use it towards a ufa dman like Roy, Walker, DeMelo etc. Tampa is going to have a perceived deficiency somewhere in the lineup next year, there's no way around that. They have depth at C and absolutely none at RD. It would suck to lose Cirelli, but for a real top.4 dman, either acquired through the trade, with the assets from the trade, or with the cap space gained to.sign.a ufa, Cirelli is easily the most valuable and, positionally speaking, the most logical choice to move.

I agree. But even still, that Eller trade is poor value. Friedman said at the deadline teams were asking about Eller. No reason for them to use a valuable retention slot on him unless the return is better.

covering all open positions to try again
Both Arizona trades would be a no. RyJo is costing a 2nd to dump, let alone paying for Bjugstad. If you wanted Schmaltz then they’d be asking for Byram and the pieces could be played with further. Girard isn’t the type of defenseman Arizona goes for, Armstrong prefers size. These teams aren’t good trading partners, what they need/ want and what they’d give up are very different

I think a 3rd party is needed to retain 50% for Smith, it won't be PIT and Vegas can't afford him next year

Even if we make it to they playoff this year, we will loose 1:4 in the first round. I think it's time to stop burning draft picks and start building a new team. With making it's right 3-4 years will be enough. Malkin, Letang, and Crosby should start growing a new team.</div></div>
Can you send Ned here first? He can always resign after the season is over! We gotta stop the bleeding here in Jersey!

That’ll be a no from us. I like Raty but Jake is a top 5-10 LW in the NHL and his value has never been higher. If the Canucks are going for a cup run they’ll need to pay for Jake, maybe more than fans are willing. He’s 20th in points so far and 8th in 5v5 points. The Penguins powerplay has been atrocious this year but i’d expect those stats to go up on a stacked Canucks team. If you guys are going for the cup, an underperforming Kuzmenko, promising prospect Raty, a late first, and a second is a fair price.

my biggest nightmare
My biggest nightmare would be Kyle Davidson accepting that proposal.
First off if I was part of Chicago’s management team, Taylor Hall would definitely be brought back to play with Bedard and re-establish his value after a lost season rather then trading him now with 50% retention. If I was to trade him now it would be for an overpay, meaning a 1st round pick.
Secondly, I am on record as saying that Connor Murphy is overvalued by the majority of Hawks fans however, due to the young age and inexperience of the Chicago D core he probably has more value to them then most teams. As a result I wouldn’t be willing to move him for less than a high 2nd round pick.
So when I look at the proposal, the 1st round pick is there but that is it. Murashov seem to be a prospect of some interest but Poulin has entered the suspect category and Puustinen is just a guy… a small guy at that. Chicago has enough of them, neither holds value to the Hawks. Rakell at 30 years old, declining productivity and four more seasons after this one at $5m per is a significant risk that most teams wouldn’t want to touch as you know which is why he is included him in the first place. You would need to add a 1st round pick and prospect just to get rid of him.

Yes, Rust will age but he is only making 5MM a year. Even if the last 2 years aren't 20+ goals, he would still be a good PK guy. He is more than worth his contract. Look at his advanced stats, he is a top 20 player year in and year out. You don't have many 20+ goal guys who play like he does and are signed for 5MM. He is worth more than a 1st in my opinion.

The NJ trade seems fair. Devils fans will hate it but so will Pens fans.
The Edm trade is bad. Rust is a 1st line RW so he is probably worth a 1st by himself. Campbell has the worst contract in the NHL, so he would need 2 1sts (at least) to move. Ned has been playing well enough for a 2nd or 3rd. I also really like Zohorna. So Edm would have to add at least another 1st and a 3rd. Then maybe more based on how good the prospect is (I don't know prospects).

Take out Girard and the Avs say yes. Since he has zero value, I'd assume you're OK with that.
