<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rpain</b></div><div>That is an absolute overpay that the Oilers should in no way consider. Laine is a top notch goal scorer but he's very inconsistent. You're getting an RFA with a similar statline to JP and offering a young cheap RHD, a young cheap RFA forward that's already playing in our top 6, our top D prospect, and a 1st. The Koskinen one is barely negative value at the point you've retained 50%.
Oilers lose this trade by a mile. Realistically you're probably giving up something along the lines of 1st plus Broberg or Holloway. I personally wouldn't trade for Laine. Oilers biggest weakness was depth, top 6 scoring was fine.</div></div>
Oilers biggest weakness was depth SCORING, outside of 97/29, and 93 on the PP, it was not there and got exposed in the playoffs... However I do agree, I would NOT want Laine, dude is a liability defensively, a cancer in the dressing room, and very selfish as a player... Would rather the Oilers use that cap space if they do get it to bring Hall back, or go after Landeskog w/o giving anything up...

Too much IMO. Equivalent of 2x 2nds. Vanacek had a good season in terms of wins (on a good team) but in terms of stats was fairly average. If he had put 3 of these seasons together in a row I'd be interested but last year could be a one off. Goalies are just erratic.

A click bait artist listening teams he thinks would have interest in a player is not connecting a player to the a team.
If McDavid wanted a trade, the Leafs would be interest, like the rest of the league, doesnt mean they are getting him. You see how that works</div></div>
David Pagnotta said that Dubas is looking to move kerfoot and will persue landeskog if they do

He's an analytical darling who can't finish when he has the puck on his stick haha. Definitely an interesting player, but glad to see what he's become on the Avs. He means too much to our middle-6 though and he's a beast on the PK

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinnylou</b></div><div>I'm really hoping we don't sign him either.</div></div>
Agreed. Like the player a LOT, but he's going to get overpaid by a LOT and I don't want that to be the Oilers. That said, Holland is reportedly interested and when he zero's in on a player he's like a dog with a bone, so I'm not overly hopeful. What I'm hoping for is that he gets distracted by Landeskog instead - I'd sooner pay Landeskog $8M than Hyman $6M.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>vinnylou</b></div><div>Look at the team that's played in front of him. I'm not saying Edmonton's defense is any better. But Oilers will need to over pay for someone guy. Plus hes going to want term. I'd love it to be lower. But Oilers will, like always need to over pay for a goalie. He's been pretty consistent for a long time. But he makes more consistent saves instead of them going right through him like Koskinen. I'm not going to lie. He's terrible. LoL. Out of all the goalies out there he's probably the better long term solution one. Who knows. Ive always liked the guy. I wish the Oilers paid the price for him 5 years ago</div></div>
Yeah you're right he's been quite consistently in the 91.6 sv % area since coming into the NHL until these last two years and his sv% in the playoffs is typically pretty good. Atleast your AGM isn't hitching your success to a 39 year old Mike Smith. Term for Andersen just seems a bit much for the decreased performance over the past 2 seasons. Though if he can get back to his typical form it's not bad. Just a gamble and he's only 31.

That's what I'm saying. Smith only had two good years (2012 with Arizona and 2019 with Calgary). He's old and nowhere close to the caliber of a starting goalie now.

If he's coming at max term, he's not signing an AAV for more than what Lehner got.
If he wants Lehner-AAV, it's a 4 or 5 year deal. At 7 years, I think he comes in at under $5M, but with a heavily front-loaded contract.

1 goal got Anderson 5.5 for 7 years. I think that extension puts in perspective that neals contract isn’t actually as bad as it’s made out to be. Safe bet for minimum 20 goals. 19 in a year he busted foot half way threw is more value able than people seem to give credit for.

Can’t act supportive of any of the trades here. I think it’s a foolish move to pay to move Neal right now. Zero chance I move larsson with klef out. Russell is controversial I can understand that but wouldn’t do it personally

If it wasn't for Smith our season would have been a lot different.</div></div>
Agreed to an extent I just don’t feel replacing kosk is the right move. I’d rather stick with him and explore somebody like smith that can provide 35-40 starts at a reasonable price which I feel there is plenty of options out there. I just don’t see kosk as a problem like most seem to be around here now. Perhaps he didn’t play as well as we needed in the play in round but let’s face it can we name 3 players on the 23 man roster who did so I personally am for the most part throwing that out since don’t think those games are fair evaluation entire team crapped the bed.

I could see them moving Russell for the cap relief. Where..who knows. But Ottawa could be a good spot to rest for him since Bor isn't staying .. good cap hit without the pay ... Melnyk styles all day long
But we can't sign AA to a 2million contract unless it's in the offseason. BC his QA is 3+10% of his contract.</div></div>
Way I see it how many goals will Hoffman provide? 30 a fair realistic expectation? So spent an extra half million and took the team out of the running for a Seth Jarvis or Quinn or one of the 5-6 very quality options just to add what 5-10 goals?

Move back 14 spots to remove 20-25 goals from the team. Makes a ton of sense....... How much does a consistent 20-25 goal scorer cost on the open market??
The over paid factor is over blown it’s not nearly as bad as made out to be. Think people are still looking at his one horrible year in Calgary after multiple deep playoff runs with Nashville and Vegas. Keep in mind he had a broken foot for half the season.
Not sure what that LA trade is... Khaira makes 1.2 million and just had the best pk % in the league.
Russell is a serviceable depth d that is owed less than half his cap hit really think teams with internal budgets wouldn’t be interested in him for the 1.5 million he’s only owed? God I hate this concept pay to remove players that just proved themselves useful makes zero sense

Mmm you're speaking in such absolutes. Bet you predicted the Blues would win the Cup? No way am I claiming the Oilers cup contenders but man, Hall with McDavid, Draisaitl, Nuge, and an actual mobile D core might be something.
Bet you also had Binnington and Jake Allen as a Stanley Cup winning tandem. Jeeze. It's always so easy speaking in hindsight.
