He waives for NYI. Similar to the Foligno and Janmark trades at the deadline. Minnesota eats half, NJ eats half of that (1.875), and NYI gets Parise at 25% of the contract.
Major difference between the Janmark/Foligno trade is that they had 1 year deals. Parise has 4 left.

I just picked NJ to eat part of his contract cause I know they have plenty of cap. If Buffalo blows up I could see them being a better fit.

< a mil isn’t horrible after the first 4 years. Everything I’m reading is a buyout or trade are really the only 2 options on the table right now. With Parise having a full NMC and his contract makes making a trade hard. This was just to see what it would be like if a buyout happened.

More than likely protect Garland over Hartman. But would 4.6 get Garland signed? Also wouldnt leave much room for Kaapo's next contract after this season.
I would do this trade for the Wild if they can move more money out. Gives them 2 right handed shots in the forward group (lack pretty bad on that) and one being a center.

Wouldnt hate it from the Wild's perspective but his contract is big enough where cap starts making it hard to sign players. I think all of those signings get a little bit more money which would put us at the wall.

Devils pre-expansion trade scenario
Really interested in the Dumba PK trade. What gets added really makes it work that it though. A straight swap wouldn’t even be close.
Does NJ have any young centers that could get thrown in? Obviously Hughes and Hischer lock up top 2 (for awhile) so I feel like they would be willing to move a prospect if they had one.

Little more rational approach. The Wild aren’t moving Foligno anytime soon. He’s a huge locker room guy and a lot of fans wanted him to replace Koivu for captain when Koivu left.
However on just skill and needs, I would do this trade.

I think it’s quite the overpay on Schmaltz. I do see how it benefits MIN more than Arizona so there is that. But Schmaltz and Dumba 1 for 1 was discussed in the Athletics “Who says no” article for the Wild and it was a clear no from both executives they asked.
How ever I wouldn’t mind doing it 1 for 1. He’s a right handed center and the Wild could use both of those things. Adding the 4th wouldn’t bother me much either. But anything more than that I would hate the trade.

If we do not move Dumba
Parise (NMC) , Zuccarello (NMC), Eriksson Ek, Fiala
Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin, Dumba
Kaapo.
If we move Dumba (and dont gain an additional forward to protect)
Parise (NMC) , Zuccarello (NMC), Eriksson Ek, Fiala, Greenway, Foligno, Hartman (or added forward)
Suter, Spurgeon, Brodin
Kaapo.

Supposedly thats the estimated asking price if they want to sign him for max length. The Athletic did a break down on it. I would assume the Wild go long term but I dont know if it will be that long of a term.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OutCold13</b></div><div>Why sign RNH? If Wild want another wing it's got to be for a guy with a right hand shot. I hate Ek as a 3rd liner Wild are killing him. He has produced when given the opportunity with linemates that have offensive ability.
Adding Nick Foligno, though he is a good player, doesn't give the Wild anything they don't already have. Sturm needs to play. Parise is with the Wild until he physically cannot play anymore, or gets tired of 4th line/ healthy scratch. I'm betting he trains hard this off-season and gives it one more year and retires or goes LTIR after that, but with the flat cap no one is jumping on the Parise train. I've loved watch Parise but everyone gets old and that sucks.</div></div>
Should address a few things in this. For Signing RNH I see him as a more skilled Johansson. Fiala is missing someone to play with (initially why Johansson was brought in) and I think RNH could play well with him. Plus he can also play center if Rossi isn’t ready yet.
Ek being third line means little. Wild kind of run all 4 lines and the top 3 lines can be interchangeable.
Signing Foligno. I just wanted the Foligno brothers together. Lol. That was it.

Wild aren't trading dumba just to lose soucy
Wild aren't trading dumba for worst player, & contract in shayne, & huge risk in nolan Patrick
Wild aren't trading a prospect they just signed last year
Wild aren't trading a c prospect in Alexander khovanov
So on top of adding a 1st round pick, you add a top c prospect like Alexander khovanov?</div></div>
Whatever you say. But I’ll take the bait.
You do trade Dumba to lose Soucy. You ideally bring in another forward that you can also use that extra protection for. Cole is likely to resign and we have plenty of depth to fill that spot. So you protect 2 more for the price of Soucy.
Nolan has been healthy this year, is currently being shopped, and has upside to be an actual 1C. You take Ghost back, which he will be on the third pair. You also clear 1.5 mil in cap. Also that’s why I added a 3rd because of taking on ghost.
Khovanov has promise but you need to give something to move Parise’s contract if you can. It’s wishful thinking but if you’re actually a Wild fan you should be seeing a 7.5 mil player playing on the 4th line.
You’re either a Wild fan that’s delusional and content being picks 15-20 in the draft or you haven’t actually watched a game or know anything about hockey.
I know you’re a troll but oh well.

Reckon the Parise deal is a bit too long for that imo
</div></div>
If the Kap >> RNH is about the lines, the lines are just set up who I think would play good together. Kap and Zucc were playing good together, Ek and Greenway play good together, Fiala needs someone and I think RNH could be good with him.
Also on Parise I know it’s a long shot to move his contract but it would be nice if we could. I also think BG is at least trying.

That’s fair. New Jersey might be one of the few places he would waive to return. Plus the team has plenty of cap to take his contract until he LTIRetires.

The Wild can go 4-4-1 and protect Dumba. Yes that exposes Greenway but you protect a more consistent player in Dumba. I do believe we are better off moving Dumba but we would at least need a center back whether that is a young center or a prospect center which the Jets only have Perfetti and I think we can agree that is an overpayment. Another D prospect is not what the Wild need and the 2nd doesn't do anything either.
So once again this does not get Dumba.
