Why don't people think about retaining salary in a potential Jack Johnson trade? I think retaining salary would mitigate the need to add a high pick or high end prospect in a trade.

I get that JJ is a good guy in the locker room, but he's a detriment to the team on the ice. I hope that GMJR realizes this, and manages to offload him, preferably without giving up a high pick or a prospect like Addison or Hallander.

if you retain a lot of salary on him it defeats the purpose of trading him. From my understanding could bury him in the minors and save 1million on his cap hit if they really wanted to save some money on him.

Im not in favor of trading him if its a high pick/prospect they are giving up, tbh I don't think it would take a high pick or top prospect to get rid of him. There are teams that would take him for less(that need to get to cap floor). Remember the caps got rid of Orpik and only downgraded the pick they got for Grubauer slightly.

I don't think GMJR and Sullivan want to get rid of him AT ALL based off their actions so far this season.
