Description
I waived Orpik, and packaged Jaskin, Dowd, picks and prospects, and made space for one good player up to a 5M cap hit.

If DSP can clear waivers, Orpik can clear waivers. I mean, he already has, last summer, when cap space mattered less. Then, in the playoffs, they're back. :)

So while I get wanting to load up with one more big star, Caps fans, we don't have to start with Andre Burakovsky to get there. He's 24 and his recent streak of 7 points in 9 games just reminds us why he's worth holding onto for the playoffs, and for the next decade.

Some good player, half retained. Just checking what the cap space is. Comment who fits.

If caps really wanna go for it, Panarin would give you guys probably the best top 6 in the league.

Would be a nightmare to play against. Could make a package around Burakovsky, a first, and maybe Johnsen. Something like that. That’s if the caps REALLY wanna go for it. I doubt CBJ trades within division though

This is so tough because Panarin is so good. Like it’s so easy to forget he’s one of the top wingers in the league and he’s such a force to be reckoned with offensively. He’s the only high price rental I’d be cool with the caps going after since he’s such a high impact player every single night.

Would he get along with Kuznetsov? Is there any chance he's sign a two-year bridge to be a part of what might be the end of the Ovechkin era? As a rental, he's not a great use of the next ten years of Burakovsky's career. As a long term rental, fine.

I was thinking Tatar, with a massive overpayment, as a bove, to cover retention. smile

Or a rental on Simmonds, Hayes, or Staal for a lot less. I don't think any of them is worth Burakovsky, but Johansen and a 2nd? Fine for any of the above. And I know nothing about Johansen besides his boxcars and youtube clips, so feel free to tell me off.
