Overvaluing Ristolainen to say the least.

Cernak (albeit small sample) is performing far better than Ristolainen, no reason for Tampa to give him up.

Cernak is not as good as ristolainen and Tampa clears like 6 million in cap space here

Wonder if something like ristolainen and sj/stl first for miller, callahan, cernak, and a 2nd work here. Tampa drops salary, acquires a second pair rhd and a mid-late first. Buffalo gets a middle 6 forward and a young rhd that is playing nhl games already. Theres something for everybody here, just not sure what cernaks ceiling is.

Cernak’s ceiling is probably 2nd pair.
Not sure where Cal Footes standing in the org is now, he would be of interest here as well. Definitely something there.

There is no reason to take back bad contracts anymore (Callahan)...Pominville and Moulson come off the books after this year and Scandella, Sobotka and Bogosian next year plus we still have the 6 million dollar man. This is why we can't go for bigger name players that will help us win. How much input have those 6 players contributed to winning? Callahan would be no different even if it's only for one year. What did Tor give up for Muzzin, a first and 2 'B' prospects. We might get a little more because of the term on Risto's contract and that's even if he's traded and that term gives us the flexibility to wait til the right deal comes along. Look at the ROR trade...we received a 1st, a 2nd and STL's 5th rated prospect...the other 2 were salary dumps to make it work and that's because Botterill's back was up against the wall to get ROR out of here and not pay the 7.5 mil signing bonus. The Sabre's got lucky when Berglund bolted.
