Description

Trouba and Zucker have been discussed as nauseam.

But the interesting thing here is Gusev. With the Stone extension, VGK is in it tough against the cap. They still have Karlsson to sign and a few NTC to navigate.

My understanding is that Gusev can’t sign an ELC because he is older than 24. But VGK holds his rights, so he is treated like an RFA that cant be offer sheeted essentially. You have to pay him enough to convince him to cross the pond, and VGK can’t do that. Instead of losing him for nothing, they deal him for some futures and Buffalo gives him a comp contract to that given to Dadonov and Shipachov. Gusev gets 2 years to show his ability and hit UFA at 28. Fun thing to think about. If anyone knows something I don’t please let me know.

If I was Chevy I'd happily do that trade.

Seems like a lot to give for Zucker.

I'd hope you'd make those picks to Vegas conditional on Gusev signing otherwise you gave up some decent picks for nothing, if it was like a 5th rounder for his rights that'd be fine but a 2nd and a 3rd seem pretty steep if there's no guarantee you could get him to come over to North America.

Yeah that'd be okay I guess, still don't think I'd want to be giving up 2nds and 3rds for a complete unknown either way though, if he pulls a Shipachev that'd really suck.
