Description
Wow, I am so tired of all the AGM suggesting Zaitsev needs to be moved for nothing. Have any of you been watching the playoffs. No, he is not Shea Weber in his prime. However, he is playing 20+ minutes against Boston’s top line and is one of our top penalty kill guys. When paired with Muzzin they make a pretty respectable pairing.

So let’s look at a real solution rather then fantasizing about moving a guy who the coach obviously has some faith in.

I see Edmonton as the best partner. They need what we have. Kadri is expendable with nylander being able to center the 3rd line. Johnsson is proving a decent replacement on the PP. In Edmonton Kadri can play wing or center the second line.
Connor Brown is a guy I hate losing and he could be a star when reunited with McDavid. Look back at his junior stats playing together. Plus he kills penalties.

Larsson is a great fit playing with Reilly. He just needs to play defence and whatever he contributes offensively is a bonus. He will never live up to the Hall trade and the new GM will be seen to be fixing a bad trade made by past management.

Puljujarvi needs a new home and could be reborn with a couple years with the Marlies. Perhaps being reunited with Kapanen on a future leafs Finnish connection.

Borgman is serviceable 3rd pair on a realistic contract.

SDA is a mid level prospect for the farm.

Yes I am slightly over the cap but they can manage that with sending a couple guys down to Marlies on off days.

Agreed but you're still over the cap & Ima guess that Kapanen & Johnsson get more then that

Johnsson had rights but is just completing first year in nhl. I constantly hear he is getting 4+ million but I don’t see it.

Kapanen too is just finishing first year. He barely made the roster out of camp. Yes he greatly improved but what is he going to sign for, 4 million??? I don’t think so. I say he signs a 2 year deal with a great Toronto team and cashes in with his next contract.

If one of those guys does go as you predict it solves the cap problem and you have a couple guys on farm who can step up. Or you include Kapanen instead of brown in Edmonton trade. Would mean Edmonton might have to include more draft choices or maybe eathan bear.

Any deal with Larsson starts with Kapanen or Johnnson. Plus, the oilers really don’t need another Center. They can run McDavid - Drai - Nuge down the middle

You mean you don’t think these top 2 lines are a massive improvement. Remember Draisaitl and McDavid together was the only decent line you had. Maybe putting them together permanently is the best solution. Brown plays a game similar to Hyman on Toronto’s best line.

RNH - Kadri - whoever played rw on first line last year.

As for “Larsson deal starting with Kapanen”
Just because Oilers made one of the worst trades in history doesn’t increase his value. He is defensive defender but not a stud shutdown guy. I think you are way over estimating his actual trade value.

Yes they can, just like they did this year.

How did that go?

What i propose is adding two top 6 players for your top 3 to play with. Draisaitl, kadri and RNH can all play center or wing.



Problem is they have no one else for those guys to play with.
