Description
Oilers need a # 1 defenceman, a big 2-way 1st line RW, a veteran backup goalie, a reliable defensive defenceman, a veteran 3rd line C and prospects for the future.

I believe this addresses all of those areas.

Trades
1.
EDM
  1. Hartnell, Scott
Additional Details:
2016 1st round pick

Columbus gives up a shot at RW Puljujarvi for the 1st line C they need. The deal hinges on the Oilers taking on Hartnell's contract.
CBJ
  1. Draisaitl, Leon
Additional Details:
The Oilers give up a lot of potential in Draisaitl for a big two way player they so desperately need. Draisaitl looked like a number 1 C while McDavid was injured last year. Tough to take on Hartnell's contract but worth it to draft Puljujarvi
2.
EDM
  1. Weber, Shea
Additional Details:
When Nashville matched the offer sheet for Weber they knew they were in it for the long haul. But the upcoming expansion draft changes everything. With 3 D-men to protect they will keep Josi, Ekholm and Ellis. This deal gives them a true 1st line RW in Eberle and a great young prospect in Nurse.
NSH
  1. Eberle, Jordan
  2. Nurse, Darnell
Additional Details:
Let's face it, the Oilers need a #1 defenceman and Weber is still one of the best in the league. It's tough to give 30 goal scorer and a top young D-man but the return is worth it.
3.
EDM
    2016 4th round pick
    Rights to Alex Chiasson

Chiasson hasn't worked out for the Sens as expected after a decent rookie season in Dallas 2 years ago. Yakupov gives them a potential 20 to 25 goal scorer. A change of scenery might bring back his game to what the Oilers expected when they drafted him.
    OTT
    1. Yakupov, Nail
    Additional Details:
Yakupov has made it well known that he wants a fresh start. Tough to lose his untapped potential but he's been given opportunity to turn it around and his play away from the puck hasn't gotten to the level it needs to be. Oilers get a big body in Chiasson who could play in the bottom 2 lines.
    4.
    EDM
    1. Datsyuk, Pavel
    2. Mantha, Anthony
    3. Ouellet, Xavier
    Additional Details:
The Red Wings get 2 players who can help them now and going forward for the same money Datsyuk was making. Pouloit is a 2nd line LW that can help replace the offence of Datsyuk. Fayne gives them a better and slightly cheaper option on the blueline than Quincey.
    DET
    1. Fayne, Mark
    2. Pouliot, Benoit
    Additional Details:
The Oilers take on a big contract for 1 year but get 2 potentially really good prospects. Mantha wasn't getting a shot in Detroit but could end being a top 6 forward on the Oilers in a year or 2. Ouellette is a good puck moving defenceman that could find his way onto this team as a 6th or 7th this season and a top 4 down the road.
    5.
    EDM
      2016 1st round pick - 7th overall
      2016 1st round pick - 20th overall

Arizona gets the other high end prospect born in Arizona in Tkachuk while giving up 7th and 20th.
      ARI
        2016 1st round pick

Oilers get their Dman in Mikhail Sergachev at 7th and the other power forward out of London in Max Jones at 20th.
        6.
        EDM
          Oilers sign Frans Nielsen.

Nielsen brings good two way ability with good hands and play making ability. He slots in as the Oilers 3rd line C
          7.
          EDM
            Oilers sign Chad Johnson.

Oilers get a reliable backup goalie in Johnson at a reasonable cost.
            8.
            EDM
              Oilers sign Luke Schenn.

Oilers get a punishing hitter/defensive defenceman to compliment their offensive Dmen
              9.

I feel Predators rather loose a forward like Fisher by protecting 8 skaters than loosing their captain who will be a top D for atleast 5 more years regardless of his Long contract. Predators has a good shot at cup glory and a forward is replacable

Right, the Perds are getting older and they must capitalize on their window now. Carolina has lots of quality D; there could be a fit there

Harknell isn't going to agree to a trade, just to be bought out. Doubt if the CBJ give up the third overall for Draisaitl. Does any team really want to have Weber at 7.8m for 10 more years?

Just throwing this out there so we can stop with these silly notions:

Anyone who thinks Hartnell is "buyout worthy" doesn't understand hockey. He may slow down in coming years, his production may not be as it once was but the guy is still a good player and can make just about any teams top 9 better. His contract isn't the best but it's far from the venomous ones we talk about on a daily basis. ( Girardi, Clarkson, Brown, Macdonald, etc)

This guy is still putting up fantastic numbers. Players who put up these numbers don't get bought out. Please stop jumping on the "Hartnell buyout" bandwagon that's being floated around here like a 3rd grade classroom rumor. If any team wants to buy him out, send him to Montreal and we'll give you a cheaper buyout player in return. I have no problem taking on Hartnell at the right price.

You're absolutely right about Hartnell so I removed the buyout and put him in as the 3rd line LW.

I would count on at least 7 more good years out of Weber baring injury. Zdena Chara and Brian Campbell are 39 and still producing. I think the Oilers would take that risk.

As far as Draisaitl for 3rd, I think it's more possible than trading 4th and 32nd for 3rd that I've seen suggested. I don't think it happens but you never know.
