I don't think this is a good path for the Habs. They start with the 15th overall pick and $12M in cap space. In the end, they end up with an 8th and 10th draft pick, an iffy prospect (Juolevi), a second-round pick and about $2.5M of cap space left. That wouldn't be enough.

Van's cost for Johnson is a little steeper than Mtl's. Change the 3rd round pick to 2nd round and I think Van would take it.

I pretty sure TB wants to keep Johnson but I could be wrong. You want Johnson and a 1st for Tyszka, Reiily, a 2nd and a 5th. Honestly I don't think this would anywhere close to one of them.

I figure this is exclusively a cap-related deal, Tampa's pretty tight right now and I pretty sure they'll have to deal 1 forward this off season at a loss. I would consider a different combination of prospects/picks to make it happen perhaps, its basically a trade of a big contract and a 1st to get back multiple but lower picks and a combo of cheaper contracts/prospects. Maybe its JT Miller that they move and not Johnson, Ias he hasn't a NTC

So the pick was for the cap hit makes a lot more sense now. They just signed Johnson to 7yr @ $5M. I think they are trying to move Miller, Gourde, Callahan, Killorn not sure if they want to 1 or 2 maybe even all of them.
