I dont understand why Toronto is sending 1st rounder to Vancouver in that deal. Kapanen for Tanev with retention and Brown for Goldobin and pick. Goldobins value is so low you would need to add pick to him to trade for Brown.

Goldobin put up nearly identical numbers offensively to Brown, in 20 fewer games. Brown is a pretty mediocre 3rd- 4th line guy. Goldobin has holes in his game, I still think the upside is there. I'd go with Goldobin. Even if it doesn't work out, you can still sign some schmuck to a league min deal and more or less replace what Brown would have brought.

It is not about the production Im talking about, its his trade value. He is possibly going back to Russia, to KHL (which alone lowers his value by half) and had personal issues with coaches and such throughout his career. His trade value is likely 5th round pick or lower. Speaking of production, Goldobin is better, they both might be on same level great with their potential (Brown was amazing in juniors, AHL and such, just like Goldobin. But as of trade value and value on market, Brown has bigger value.

That Arizona trade is god awful for Vancouver. All that for an overpaid 31 year old Dman?
