If by miracle Marleau retires, don't think many other trades are needed. Some tweaking but to getting overpaying for other teams RHD seems rather destructive long term.

Marleau retiring is the nonsense. He played 82 games last year and still wants to win a Cup. He'll be back in a Maple Leafs jersey next year. Datsyuk wanted to go play in Russia, so the comparison ends there.

As I said, "If by some miracle Marleau retires." The Leafs are going to worse than last year, no cap, no Gardiner, no Haisney having to trade player(s) to be cap compliant. Leafs chances to win a Cup are small next year. The grind of another non successful Cup run would be the only reason Marleau retires. But pro athletes like the grind, they have 40 or 50 years of non playing retirement , so I doubt if stops playing now.
