Description
The Athletic reports that Zucker/Rask could be traded for Kessel/Johnson.... the Wild need youth, not a 31 year old RW who would probably not produce like he has in the past.

Let's say this is happening, but Kessel is not playing for the Wild, but going to play for a cup contender of his choice, example Nashville. The Wild trade Kessel to a cup contender that would need half of his salary retained to be able to afford him. This team will they need to pay in prospects/picks... example is below, not sure what the value of Kessel at $3,400,000 for the 3 years.

Nashville fans, don't hate that I used your team as an example, but they fall under the cup contenders that could use help affording Kessel.

Wild would get a lot better prospects than just trading Zucker and they get Rask off their books, but they take on Johnson.

Didn't bother with any other trades/UFAs.

Dont see that happening, Fabbro was off the table in the Duchene trade talks, they wont move him now for Kessel. Realistically if Preds wanted Kessel they would just deal with the Pens directly, dont see the need for Minny to be involved

Pens get the short end of the stick here and would much rather have the Preds assets

Its a tough call, try to trade him now so you can snag some picks for the draft, or wait till UFA when teams miss out on Panarin and he would be a pretty good back up plan.
Pens are still going for it right? So cheaper NHL ready guys like Fabbro and Tolvanen on ELCs keep that window open for Sid

I did say I don't know the value of Kessel at 3 years 3.4 if Fabbro is off the table fine, this was an example. Nashville doesn't have the cap space to pay Kessel without moving other pieces unless someone is paying half his salary.

They dont have the cap space for Duchene either but are goign to try to sign him. They can shed cap in Turris and Boino when they need to, its the start of the Off Season and they plan on doing that to their roster, they can make the cap space in a variety of ways.

Pens could retain Phils Cap hit too if they wanted to with how much they are salving on getting guys on ELCs. Really no need for Minny in any situation for this deal
