Description
The intent of these moves is to get the Wild back to the playoffs since Leipold doesn't seem to want a rebuild.

Toronto trade: Greenway is on the last year of his ELC, so there’s a cap savings over Kapanen for the last year of Marleau’s deal. Eriksson Ek could slot in as Toronto’s 3C and likely sign for a $2m/2 year prove it deal so they can then trade Kadri to find a defenseman.

Tampa trade: Tampa gets a top pairing RHD on a cheap cap hit this season to replace a departing free agent while freeing up some cap space to re-sign Point and address other roster needs. The Wild get a much needed right handed center on a reasonable contract.

Carolina trade: Carolina gets Zucker to replace the departing Ferland and the Wild get a RHD Carolina doesn’t need to replace Spurgeon. Guessing Faulk wouldn’t mind signing an extension since he’s from Minnesota.

Overall roster: Koivu starts the season on IR likely, which gives Rask a chance to rebound as the 3C and Sturm a chance to play 4C. Once Koivu comes back, Boudreau can decide where the 3 of them fit. Mayhew gets a chance at 3rd RW after a strong AHL season, otherwise they can give Anas a look at RW. I’d avoid bringing in any new wingers because hopefully they’ll have Kaprizov the following year. Belpedio and Pateryn split 3rd pair RHD time to see if the Wild have a player in Belpedio.

If Brisebois pulled that off I’d be dancing on Channelside

I wasn't sure if some picks should be involved. Johnson seems to me to be a guy who could be a solid 2C on a team like the Wild, but he gets overshadowed on Tampa. I'm not sure what his value really should be.

Minnesota never does that Toronto trade, Greenway is untouchable.
Switch Johnson for a prospect, add a 1st and then add another conditional pick upon him re-signing.
If u want 1 year of Faulk for Zucker, go ahead and pull that haha

I'm not so sure Greenway is untouchable after the Iowa Wild playoff run he was just on. Fenton didn't seem too happy that some NHLers sent to Iowa played poorly. He said Kunin played well, but didn't offer the same compliments for Donato or Greenway. He just traded for Donato, so that probably buys him some time but Greenway was a Fletcher pick so he doesn't have that same consideration.

I like the base of your ideas, at least, but the value could use a little tweaking.

Kapanen for Greenway 1 for 1 is fair IMO. I don't think it's necessary to add the extra picks and Ek to that deal unless we're swapping Ek for one of their D prospects (like Sandlin or Liljegren). Leafs fans won't like that, but realistically I see Sandlin and Liljegren becoming 2nd pairing players at best and Eriksson Eks ceiling is a 2C (but more likely a tweener 2C/3C).

You should be able to get a lot more for Spurgeon, especially if we retain half his salary. If I'm Fenton, I push HARD for Sergachev. Yzerman didn't want to move him, but that doesn't mean Brisebois isn't willing to. Ideally we'd target Serg and Johnson, but we'd have to add more than Spurgeon to make that happen (and we would also have to retain half his salary and take on Callahan). Maybe something like Greenway and Spurgeon for Sergachev, Johnson, and Callahan might work.

As for the Carolina deal, if I'm GM I'm only doing that if there's a conditional 2nd attached to Faulk. The condition would be that we gain their pick if Faulk walks in free agency, otherwise you're just moving Zucker for a rental RD which isn't smart asset management.
