Description
Namestnikov and Vesey will fetch around a 3rd rounder. Maybe a 2nd from some teams, and maybe a 4th from others. I put them on teams I thought they would fit well in, but really it could be any team.
Kreider gets a late first rounder and a promising young prospect whom the Rangers are familiar with. Carolina takes on a cap dump to sweeten it a little more.
1 mid-first and a late-first + a B prospect maybe a tad bit short of getting the 8th overall pick, even with a cap dump, but this is Ken Holland, and we could get lucky, or it could be fair value.
Strome/Pionk trade is simple enough, and has been described.
This team has a bright future. If all prospects can meet their expectations, this would be a team contending for a wild card spot, and if they all exceed expectations, then they could be a wild card lock.
To be totally honest, I think this is on the realistic end and could be possible.

You probably couldn’t have picked a worse team for trading Pionk & Strome. We already have KK, Danault, Domi, Poehling, Thompson, Weal, & Suzuki at C (or their ideal position is C) and Petry, Weber, Juulsen, Folin, Brook, & Fleury on RHD. We’d be more interested in Skjei or Hájek (who I know won’t be moved).

Canes trade - pass as presented. Basically you’re giving us a rental (maybe we can extend him) in Kreider, and $3.7M of Staal for two more seasons for low cost controlled assets in a ELC prospect and a 1st. Not happening.

Now, you take on Darlings contract instead of Canes buying him out, and set retention on Staal to 50%, maybe.

Darling + Saarela + 2019 1st
Kreider + Staal (50% retained)

I'm not sure if that's the best example for RHD. There's a pretty steep drop off after Petry/Weber and while it's nice to be optimistic about the future for Juulsen, Folin and Fleury, there just hasn't been a firm indication any of them are going to be a part of your future or more immediately help you make a deep playoff run next year. If the goal this year is to rebuild again, then sure you don't need to improve your RHD, but if you're trying to make a run while you still have Gally and Tuna, I'm not sure you can bank on Juulsen/Folin/Brook or Fleury to hit 65+ games in the next season.

BTW Skjei and Hajek are both available. I just don't think you'd like the cost of either.

Do you think the Edmonton trade is alright?
