Description
Anaheim deal removed. Alzner dumped for a mess of second rounders. Byron trade simplified, returned to CGY. Weise packaged with Armia to VAN. Habs still sign Karlsson, Edler and Nyquist to Big $$$. Keep Petry, at least for the time being.

In 2020, one big contract -- Tatar, Petry, Drouin, Gallagher -- likely would have to go to make room for signing Domi and Mete. Thompson is replaced by Poehling and Shaw/Deslaurier is replaced by Suzuki.

In 2021, Brook, Fleury and Romanov take over on D. Edler and Petry exit, perhaps Weber, too, opening up funds to sign KK, Gallagher, Danault, etc.

I'd rather keep Byron than signing Edler at that price

I'm surprised I see so many MTL fans willing to give away Armia. I think he could be a useful, cheap top 9 player on most teams. Having likely seen him play more than I have, what's your take on him?

Working on the idea that Edler and EK could do magic together. Might be a pipe dream. I don't see Byron having nearly $3.4M value on the Habs anymore. Too many good wingers.

I like Armia, but he doesn't fit in if the Habs are going to keep Shaw and spend on D. If they can't really use him effectively and Weise is a cap killer, it makes sense to throw him in. Really, in retrospect, I suspect the Devils would prefer Armia and the Canucks would prefer one of the second rounders.
