Description
The Caps have huge holes at 3RW, 4LW, 4RW. We need to go get a free agent RW that can score that will cost under 3 mill AAV.

Upgrading our 4th line wingers from the barely NHL talent of Stephenson and Boyd would be nice, if possible.

Shane Gersich makes the NHL team as a rotating 4th line LW.

Sign Tanev in UFA, trade for Connor Brown. They can rotate between the bottom 6 wings and see what fits best and works most effectively. Having both would be huge bottom 6 depth, if the Caps could pull it off.

Unrealistic?

Tanev will probably ask for something around $3 million

Possibly, but giving him longer term might get it done.

The market on Tanev is strange. He's a quality bottom 6 winger but he doesn't score a ton. I could see him making anywhere form $2 to $3.5. He's very comparable to Roussel last year.

I could totally see GMBM offering more term to being down the AVV. I think it would still cost $2.5 mil or so probably.

I would take Connor Brown in a second for that but I don't think Toronto retains any. Might be too tight.

This may still be able to work if they tweaked Vrana's AAV, or went with a cheaper 7th Dman. I doubt Toronto would retain, but GMBM has made some magical trades happen recently, like getting Philly to retain 30% of Gudas' contract, how in the world did he get that to happen? Retaining 300k on Brown isn't a lot and it's not outside the realm of possibility, especially if the Caps slightly overpay on the draft picks. It'll only be 300k for one season.
