As far as I am aware, Jake Gardiner will not take a 1 year deal specifically because of his concerns over his back. He wants a long term deal.

Anaheim did not give up on him when they traded him to Toronto. Just want to make that clear. My point is his people are not entertaining 1, 2 or 3 year deals at the moment.
