As stated above, there’s no chance Buffalo accepts this.

Assuming this is fantasy-land and they do accept it, there’s no chance the Stars cap space allows for it. First, you can’t utilize LTIR until the league year begins in October. This means that you have to fully account for Hanzal’s $4.75M and Johns’ $2.35M, pitting Dallas WAY over the cap limit. Johns also isn’t going to be on LTIR. He’s fully expected to play this season and has been cleared by his team doctors. He’s been a full participant in on-ice programs this offseason and looks good.

There are numerous reasons that this trade wouldn’t work.
