Why get older and lose valuable assets? Kopitar would be a 3C in three years time with the plethora of rookies in the system.

Maybe, maybe not. Bergeron is still going strong at 33. Everyone thought Staal was done in his early 30's but he gave some quality to Minnesota the last couple years.

I think Kopitar will rebound again, plus the coach would love him.

It certainly could be.

It also could turn into not very much depending on where the picks end up and how Drouin performs. He could just as easily get 70-80 points as he could be a perennial 50 point guy who can't defend to save his life.

Kopitar on the other hand is a guy who is extremely dependable in all situations but beyond 30 and has a huge contract.
