Description
I've had my sights on Smith as a potential long-term replacement for Schenn. It gives Vegas some much needed cap flexibility down the line, as they already have quite a lot tied up in their top-9. I realize Buffalo is up on the cap at the moment, but let's assume they deal with that separately, and would still want to acquire a 2C. We can even retain a bit if it's needed to get the deal done. Added Maroon to make Blues fans happy.

i'm saying this as a blues fan who would start another parade for this deal: a fringe top-4 D and a bottom-6 F with upside is not enough value to get a 55 point scorer and assistant captain with a modified NTC off a contending vegas team, even with their top-6 logjam

you're probably looking at a deal that includes a real piece (fabbri, perron, or a mid-high tier prospect) or a more serious draft pick to get that conversation started

I think if they can turn Smith into a #4 defenseman and 3rd liner for the same price as Smith, they are happy with that cap redistribution. If they need more value, then we upgrade the pick a bit.

2nd, 3rd, 6th and Asplund for Schenn LOL. The same as Skinner.
OMW, if Buffalo could add Schenn as #2 center, Buffalo could be looking at a possible playoff spot.
