They could use the young proven prospect goalie plus they get Schultz who is a top rated defensemen plus they can use Jack Johnson as a cheap fill in until they rebuild their core and he won't be complaining plus they get Young Proven Dom Simon who will fit with them going forward. If it's true that Doughty is unhappy with the Kings (I guess the poor team), he's only got himself to blame. When he signed that contract he must've known that the Kings were not going to be good for years. Did he want to take the chance at go to free agency. Nope. Take the eight years and the money.
I really don't disagree with the trade if the intention is long term cap relief for the Kings.
