Description
(1) Play Matthews' line more at 5v5 b/c AM and WN drive play well at evens.
(2) JT and Marner are experienced with both the PP and PK; they can play less at 5v5 to account for more time on PP and PK.
(3) Fire Babcock and co., replace with Sheldon Keefe.
(4) Re-sign Hall (pre-trade) and Muzzin. $9.5m x 8yr, and $5.5m x 2/3yr. Re-sign Dermott $3.5m x 3yr.
(5) Holl, Mikheyev, and Gauthier among others to be re-signed with approximately $5m in remaining cap-space after (4).
(6) Consider trading Barrie or re-signing him for cheap.
(7) Trade with Anaheim Ducks only goes through if Ryan Miller approves it. If not, trade still stands in principle to get Petan a better opportunity and use trade to upgrade a 5th round-pick to a 4th (or something like that).

How about fire Babcock and replace him with Don Cherry?

don't trade rielly, that'd be a huge mistake. instead send a package similar to what VGK sent for stone last year.
I'd do Johnsson, lilegren and a second tops

Interesting, thought-out take. I hesitate to fully support it when the plan is to add $7.5M in cap for next season in the resignings for Hall, Muzzin, and Dermott when the only contracts coming off the books are Barrie,Vesey, and Miller.

Also, I understand getting rid of Ceci and acquiring Miller in the Buffalo trade, but giving up Kapanen and taking back Vesey doesn't really seem worth it to me, if you're trying to ensure future success... Kapanen adds a lot of scoring touch, and plays a 200ft game.

Also, Rielly's contract is a boon to have, although he's kind of looked like a mess this year, and I think people overrate Hall. Not sure how I feel about that trade either, since the Hall sweepstakes are based on him not wanting to re-sign in New Jersey, so you may be able to low-ball the Devils.

I think if it's possible to keep Petan in the Anaheim deal, that it could be ideal to keep his cheap af contract. Guy works hard and I've liked his game so far. Would flipping Vesey to Anaheim be feasible?

Just some thoughts. I like your take overall though, it's a possible solution. Good work.

So what you are saying is. Everyone tee off and break a bone there when you get TOR on the PK and that way they kill the team.

There are reasons teams don't like to play their star players on the PK. It's called LTIR
